In the manual its given don't go above 110 until first service(1000-1500kms).
rpm won't go above 2000 if u go @ 80km/hr in 5th gear.

Alright. I asked coz its the same engine as in Safari 2.2 and it says 2500rpm on 5th till 1500-1800km and hence.

Hope you are not using premium diesels.

Lijo, congrats on being the first Grande owner on the forum. Am sure there are lot of folks and potential owners out here desperately waiting to find out how the ownership keeps up.
Keep us updated second by second

Lijo, it is not actually the speed but the RPM that you should be more concerned about. If the RPM is well within the recommended range, all is fine.

Great. Also if loaded with 8 people, is there space for luggage?

Nope. A few briefcases thrown in the back and some soft luggage maybe, but not for any large bits of luggage. That is why the rearmost seat can be removed completely.

TATA Sumo Grande - INTIMIDATOR !

Congrats! Looking forward to your long term ownership experience.

Saw two on Mount road (Anna Salai), Chennai today. One was Marine blue and the other Quartz black. The former had some political markings on that. Was glad to see that because in TN politicians use the TATA Safari and Sumo in a big way.

Had been tracking the vehicle pre-launch, taken a test drive days before the official launch in Chennai and was planning to take delivery a couple of days after the launch but during the test drive the missus got locked into the middle row because one of the door knobs was partially broken and the other would not work (no, child lock was not on); we had to open the door from outside for her to get down. She was so put off by this, the quality of the interiors and the fit and finish that my dreams to own the INTIMIDATOR vaporized!

The vehicle was relatively new, gone for very few test-drives and was obviously not much abused as test drive vehicles some times are in the long run. It even had a PDI passed sticker. There was no excuse for the dealer putting the vehicle for TD without checking the door openers.

Congratulations!!! Was just waiting for someone to own one and give us some inseides on the New Sumo.

My boss (I dont know why) took another Victa last week for office use instead of going in for the new one.

How many of us maintain respectable speeds on Demo cars? We never drive or do something harsh to our own car. I know people who abuses demo car coz its not theirs! Pity/shame on them. What did he get education for?

Do check another Grande. It just rumors about Tata's build quality.

And yes, its a shame that the dealer could only provide you with a badly maintained car.

Congratulations!
I hope you are taking time out to read all these congratulatory messages.

BTW, are the second row seats adjustable for providing more leg room to the passengers?
