I love the parking lot picture.
It sure does stand out gracefully.

Your Ride looks fantastic, which I had one too.
The interior pics are vefry good, the car looks nice and roomy.
Personally, I would pick the Grande over the Safari, I don't know why,
to me the Grande seems a lot more practical, and I'm sure it would be
cheaper to maintain.

hi Lijo, now the car looks...well ..as it should have...congrats.I was going to post about 'blackening' the B/C pillars for that 'single green house' look..and you have done just that.
What about riding in rain, are the tires throwing up 'muck' on the body panels now that the tires are a bit out.
drive safe!

Sumo Grande Recalled

I got a call from tata dealer last week to take the Grande there to change

some parts. It has done from company as some Grande has reported some

problems. It took almost one day to change these parts. What all changed is

given below:
Retro Kit A/c(Sumo Grande) :Rs. 15079
Retro Kit Seats TJC(Sumo Grande) :Rs. 142
Assy G.S. Linkage :Rs. 1692
Alternator-Crossover :Rs. 10688
Assy Collapse STG CLMN (Delphi) :Rs. 3710

These have been freely replaced under Warranty.
Some major differences i felt after getting the Grande back:
Gear knob has been changed. Now the knob's shape and size is almost like

skoda.Gear changing is very smooth now,as smooth as normal cars.Steering play

has been reduced, now has better control over the road.

In one of the pics where the glove box is shown, there are two circular depressions that look like some kind of holder. Are those glass holders, or speaker units or what? Can you please tell..

As Lijo has already mentioned, they are glass holders. You would find something of a similar nature for the Ford Ikon as well. A rather pitiable attempt i would say.

Hi Lijo,

Its good to hear that Tata has replaced some parts for free under warranty.

You had mentioned that the gear knob has been changed. Could you post a pic of the new one?

Also, did the dealer mention any reason for the change they had done?

Hi Lijo,

My family is serously considering the Sumo Grande and i was wondering how u feel about you car especially since the warranty change etc. Theres a lot of cribbing regarding the interior quality, I am not bothered about the rough edges but just want to sure they are durable.

There is a lot going for this car, looks, value, space etc. but im just scared considering Tata's previous history and most family members prefer the Innova.

But im in love with the Sumo at present and prefer it to the Toyota van. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank You.
