Redesigning the dash costs a lot and for a value for money car like the Vista the central design makes sense(personally dont like it though and the tachometer could have been bigger).

If the design is modular, you can create separate LHS and RHS dashboards from the same panels without having to create two separate dashboards. Tata themselves have done that in the past - for the Sierra/Estate. It's not absolutely necessary to create a centrally mounted instrument consol for saving on the die costs.

i am not saying that it Cant be done-only that the centrally mounted console works out even cheaper than changing the dies.

Also, short drivers find centrally mounted instruments more convenient. Have you not seen people sitting on small cushions to get proper view of the road.

Finally got a chance to see the hyped vista. I
think interiors are depressing, bad ICE, lesser boot, bad plastics. I agree that engine, gearbox is too good but Tata has a long way to go.

tough choice actually...advantages of vista - lesser price, more space, lower wait period, not so common place (as of now).

Definitely, Vista is a improved version but when I compared with Palio, I found that fit 'n finish is not as good as palio. Vista certainly needs bright color seat covers. New set of speaker. At first look i felt "indica improved, its irresistable but palio is better"

Cool observations. But I have a few question though for you.

How much more inspiring and exciting are the interiors of say, Fiat Palio? Is the dashboard and IP super exciting? With NO ICE and MUCH Bigger boot??
