Excellent review.
When you started it yesterday i was online but was waiting for it to finish.
I wont comment on ratings or final verdict.
Everyone can purchase what suits them better in terms of mind, heart and money.
Cheers!

Excellent comparative report. More than sufficient for an average Joe!

Sid, this is a fantabulously compiled and presented review. One can only imagine the amount of effort and time you would have spent in penning it down. Hats of to you! NOW the decision making becomes all the more easier for ME when it comes to a TOSS UP between the Fiat Grande Punto E Pk and the i20 Asta! Really sid, thanks a TON.

I meant the Jazz would win in a lot of battles, not this comparo necessarily. I was highlighting the fact that the Jazz is a great product in isolation but noone reviews anything in isolation, there is always a price-tag involved since it is a purchase at the end of the day. The Jazz seemed an appropriate example since it is lambasted by everyone as being over-priced.

I did not mean the Jazz needs to be in this comparo.

Cheers!

I couldn't agree with the verdict as each section having its rating and i20 leads overall, and the final verdict "Punto" how come? Then whats the use of giving points to each section !

Its like saying , The Total marks is 50 and you have 5 section in that, each section carries 10 marks and you have scored 10 marks on each section, but the final result - "You have failed in the exam"

You see, the final verdict is the only reason this review hasn't crossed several pages yet. Pun intended guys ;-)

The review itself is a humongous effort and kudos to Sid!

Fantastic effort there Sid...

Maybe you should have put the waiting period etc also into consideration.

The pix were terrific so much so I noticed trivial things like Punto's fuel lid is in the driver's side and the Speedo is left-aligned within the cluster. Its Tacho has no redline(!), whereas the Ritz redlines at 5K.

Sid !!

Hats off to you. I am not commenting here because you declared Punto the winner and I own one.

I am saluting your efforts, dedication and enthusiasm to compile and share with us a report of such high quality.

Keep up the good work.

Sid,

I think that i20 and Punto diesel are tied up if one is not better than the other. Both cars are so good. Kudos man, awesome review. Great, so much of time and hardwork which goes into writing such big reviews,
"Bas Apne dil ki Suno", keep writing such reviews.

If i were to go for Petrol hatch, then definitely Punto 1.4 but if Diesel, i20 Crdi will make life tougher whether to go for Punto 1.3 or i20 1.4

Jokes apart. Simply awesome
You can Pete a 1.4 CRDi too! (if not immediately, few months down the line :-) )

Fiat Grande Punto
What works:
  • best build quality
What needs work:
  • low rent interior plastics with poorly designed storage spaces
  • interior parts falling off
Hey Sid
Great work. Though I found one contradiction here. Can best build quality go hand in hand with parts falling off and low quality interiors ?
I observed that swift is perceived by many as "poorly build" due to some minor rattles coming from window assembly/dash board.

Fantastic Review there Sid!

Price plays a part in the car buyer's decision making.

However the above statement does not hold good against the straight H. No offenses to anyone, I somehow get the predictions wrong with respect to straight H when it comes to sales with respect to the pricing. Huh. Strictly my opinion.

If price is considered as a secondary factor in this comparison, then i20 should be the winner. Not sure what the logic here is for proclaiming GP as the winner.
