My Hyundai i20 CRDi Asta is here! UPDATE- Now Sold

For the last 3 months, I was looking for a replacement for my 5 year old Accent Viva CRDi. I needed a safe and comfortable diesel hatchback, and I ended up checking out the Swift, the Ritz, the Getz and the Punto. For various reasons, me/my dad did not end up liking the same car.

A funny thing happened when I went for the Getz CRDi, I checked out the i20 upclose for the first time and loved it. And immediately I wanted it. It just felt a class above the getz/ritz/swift. Back then it was available only in Petrol 1.2 and hence not an option.

Fast forward to end of June, and fellow TBhpians announce that the i20 CRDi is coming. Hyundai denied it, but as usual Team BHP is correct.

The car is launched, and I take a test drive from Mukesh Hyundai on 9th July, and booked the Asta version (Rs. 683431 ex showroom) in Berry Red on the 16th of July.

Was doing bi weekly followups with the Mukesh Hyundai's sales guy, and he smsed me the Engine/Chassis no. of the car allotted to me on the 31st of July.

The car reached Kolkata on the 10th of August. I did a PDI on the same day, and paid the balance amount to Mukesh Hyundai on Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, I was told that due to some issue between the RTO and Hyundai, the car cannot be registered as yet. I would have to take the car on a Temporary number. I find it unacceptable that even after 1 month of launching the diesel version, Hyundai could not work out these formalities.

The delivery date and time was fixed as 2 PM on Thursday, the 13th of August. I reached the showroom on time and met the sales guy. After a through check and paperwork, tipped the cleaners and left the dealers.

Photo session ahoy!

The cost was as follows:

Ex Showroom Price : 683431
Regn (5 Yr Tax) : 34000
Insurance (Cholamandalam) : 12999 (IDV 649260)

Total: 730430

P.s. Dealer gave me a quote of Rs. 20800 for the insurance. I got the above insurance myself. IDV 649260.

I am elated, and just wanted to share my joy. Will keep updating this thread with initial ownership experiences...

A big thanks to TeamBHP and TeamBHPians for helping me make this decision.

Excellent, excellent. The interiors are too good. The wheel looks similar to the one in AHNC or civic right?

Congrats and happy ownership.

The 1st i20 CRDi...

Congrats AbhiJ, the i20 looks great in Berry red. The crdi is clearly more than a notch above its petrol sibling. Drive safe.

Congrats on the latest pocket rocket! Happy ownership! How do you find the braking, compared to cars with front discs only?

Congratulations Abhi! Excellent dashboard controls and displays. Really looks premium with climate control etc. Good choice. Maybe I missed reading it but is this an autobox?

Amazing acquisition. Very nice color too!. As much as people cribble about the car being underpowered, the BIG WIDE GRIN on the face when the turbo kicks in at 1800rpm is just worth it.

I honestly dont think the car can be called underpowered by anyone... It would be fair to call it adequately powered...
