I want to, but dont know if I should... in two minds..

What do you advise? Should I wait longer?

31k is a lot of money, and the car is not lacking in power....

but then, more power is always good..

Hehe. I totally understand the sentiment.

Usually it is advisable to wait for 10k kms to come up. That way, all your mechanicals have been run-in as they should be.

Take it out for some nice highway driving and the 10k shouldn't take more than 5-6 months.

As you have already noticed, proper breaking in will ensure a smoother delivery as the days pass by.

And well, truth be told... the mill doesn't desperately need the power either. My take would be to wait for 10k.

But then matters of power are governed by the heart.

Doc, open a new thread.

Would love to hear your experience.

'Test drives and Initial ownership reviews' is the sub-forum you'll be looking for.

Wobbles on high speed braking

Does anyone share this experience in braking:

My i20 crdi Asta wobbles on high speed braking....does anyone understand why or have the same problem.

(I have completed my 900kms mark)

That is because of the rotors heating up. Do you have alloys installed? If yes then this should not be happening. I dont think it would affect the braking though.

This can happen to any car, not necessarily i20.
1. Check your tyre pressure
2. Check if your wheels need balancing?
3. And how was the surface when you tried braking?
4. How was the load inside the car and was it windy?

If none of the above ... then probably time to replicate the problem in-front of your dealer.

Guys, I have a friend's I 20 CRDI for the past week and have taken it to office twice so far. He is away abroad for a 2 week trip.
I've driven only petrol cars for the past 2 decades, so I have a few questions:-
  1. When I slow down in 3rd gear due to city traffic, I notice the tacho falling below 1 K mark, but still the car moves and does not knock. Is it a good practice to downshift to make the rpm go above 1 K? Will it affect the FE?
  2. My pal has left his USB attachd to the ICE, but I could not figure out how to change to a different folder on the system. The manaul is not with me.
  3. I find some rattling sounds from ther rear and I think the tyres are over-inflated. What is the correct tyre pressure?
  4. I don't find the stock lights to be bright---at least my Fiesta has better lights. What do others feel?
  5. When I put the AC in auto mode, it goes into fresh air and the cooling drops. But when I press the recirculate button, it improves. But I am unable to get rid of that 'Auto' display on the dash. If I press the 'Off' button below the 'Auto' button, the darn AC switches off! Any hints?
  6. I don't see any DTE reading---is it not delivered?
Thanks

So imagine this scenario: You drop a friend off and forget to lock the car after that. Your all doors + hatch remains unlocked! Security issue in traffic signals & plain stupid, in my opinion.

* On the front seats, when you pull the door's interior "open" handle, even a locked door unlocks automatically; I would have prefered the conventional method of first unlock then open.

p.s. I havent recieved my Owners Manual yet, so dont know if the central locking can be re programmed. I hope it can!!
During the First Service did You ask about any possible solution to this issue? or is that you just have to leave with it

I have alloys-wheels on my Asta.

Tyre pressure is fine.

Wheel alignment is perfect.

It wobbles on all surfaces.

Wobbles with or without load.

Or does ABS behave this way???

Experts please throw share some knowledge.

Does your car wobble at a particular speed range?

If the car wobbles during running running at a particular speed rannge, it can be due to:

1. tire pressure - keep all tires at same and required psi.
2. wheel allignment - do allignment
3. wheel balancing. - do balancing
4. Alloys not hub centric - install hub spacer rings

if the car wobbles during braking

1. uneven brake pad wear (did you brake suddenly for quite a few times in your new car?)
2. worn out brake rotors (next to impossible in a new car)
3. suspension issues

There can be thousands of other reasons, but teh ones mentioned above are most probable ones.

6000 Kms Update

Well Guys.. its been almost 6 months and I have crossed 6000 kms. Car is due for it 2nd service next week. Just thought I ll update the thread...

So far, everything has been great with the car *touch wood* ... And I am fully satisfied..

Around 2 months ago, I had to send it to the service station because some knocking sound that was coming from the boot. Saini hyundai diagnosed and solved the problem within 25 mins of my car entering the place. The problem was a misaligned boot lock.

The F.E. has improved (possibly because the A/C is off) to 14.5 kmpl in congested city driving.

The turbo lag I felt when the car was new has now lessened considerably.

Did a highway trip in the i20 last week. I wont publicly state what speeds I did, but all I can say is, the i20 outclassed my Viva CRDi and my Lancer.
The car was very quick, very comfortable, and very safe. Had to emergency brake once from 120 kmph, when a lady decided to cross the road without warning. The car did not skid at all, and the ABS did its job well.

Got parking sensors installed in the car. Will post photos of the installation soon.

Will post more updates once the second service is done.
