Congrats Sanjay! I had also taken delivery around 5.30pm and can understand the feeling of that first drive in the evening rush hour. But I do remember people giving you way just by seeing that ribbon across

IMO, rear/front balance is best at 0. The stock system gives you decent bass, so you might want to keep the tone a bit higher. For testing, I would recommend any A R Rehman song. And if you are a Floyd fan, check Coming back to life too.

I'm sure you dont plan to sit infront of your comp today. Go take her out and enjoy!

I am getting impatient over the wait period, its more than 2 weeks now and still no update and news from the dealer,
having second thoughts in mind (as to why not i have thought of a second option)
Really after researching a lot in fiesta i have not thought a bit about PLAN B, If PLAN A fails.

Gilead, is the Road Tax receipt from RTO in some certificate format or kind of Invoice from MPL? For my Ikon, I got this (attached) when I took from MPL in 2003.

No, I did not get this. I did get this doc for my 800 though. See my edit above. Sorry for the confusion.

Probably just means the color is not readily available in stock. Did you book Platinum? Just keep pestering the sales guy.

The red flashing indicator sure is a pain..alongwith the 10 mins or so switch-off delay for the control panels..look/feels odd when the car is parked in the dark. Before going to bed at 12 midnight, have to go down to the parking to check if the lights are really off and the doors are locked.

PS: Am told by dealer that no road tax docs will be given. The RC will have all these details, which might take about 2 weeks. The only docs I have is a) Sales Invoice b) Insurance Policy/Certificate c) Delivery Note, which according to dealer is sufficient for the suspecting cops for a new car. True?

Congratultions - Now you are a proud Fiesta Owner.

Flashing indicator - you mean engine immobilizer? -This will keep on flashing when the car engine is off. It will stop once you start the engine?

Other control panel lights (Odo,tripmeter,DTE) and the one on the music system counter will go automatically - Do not worry.

Road Tax reciept -Why the dealer is not giving - atleast he can give a copy of it if at all they need original to collect the RC (smart card?). In kerala the RTO office despatch the RC's only by speed post and will not give it to anyone personally.
anyway you can drive with other documents you have it now. And you will get the number shortly so no worry.

Ruchir, chill yaar! Your name is already officially published in Nairji list..cannot be changed now;-}

There is definitely a somewhat long waiting period as I got to know here from my dealer. Mine came on 16th itself (did the booking on 8th) since the dealer had already pre-booked with Ford some vehicles anticipating the demand. Since I was not going thru any loan option, I was given some preference once I finalized the color.

Now I am told, except for couple of colors like white/black, all bookings have a wait period of almost a month. But is is worth the wait with a cherry on top - mint fresh 2010 manufactured/regd car.

What is the approximate date your dealer is telling? Have you paid the full amt or only booking amt?

This is the Road Tax Certificate.

This certificate will have to be collected from RTO (probably it will be ready by next day of payment of tax and the dealer people may collect it)

RTO reciept is something else which is proof from RTO that your car is registered with them and you paid the necessary fees.

Thanks Nairji.

Not worried about the lights/indicators..but the night watchman came running to me yday saying pls check the car..it basically creates confusion! Plus in a dark place, it kind of looks odd and draws undue attention. Planning to cover the steering with a handkerchief!!

Since I was late yday, the invoice dept has left..hence did not get the invoice for taxes/accessories etc..will be getting the same today when they come over to fix the number plate.

Gilead, then its fine. Did not know RTO are incoporating the taxes etc in the RC itself. Good. Some trees saved there. Atleast these guys are doing something for the planet which the Copenhagen guys cannot!!

There is nothing much you can do with these basic settings. Rear/Front/Left/Right is set to zero for me. Treble/Bass set to Max. Test using some songs with good bass and mids. Hallowed be thy name by Iron Maiden perhaps? lol

We get the paper RC book here. Nothing but a huge sheet. RTO sends it to the dealer or the dealer collects it. We collect it from the dealer.

Another clarification please!

Do we get only the DTE in Fiesta? In Linea, it gives you the Kms/Litre on a real time basis..won't we get that on Fiesta? Ford should do some software upgrade to include the realtime mileage and offer as a service pack update...and maybe tout is as a first!!

Sorry guys..will be bombarding you people with questions in the next couple of days.

Real time FE display is not possible in the current Fiesta. All these features and much more like steering mounted audio controls are available in the 2010 Fiesta which is probably coming here in 2012.

This happened to me also.
The day when I got my car delivered ,she was parked in my house
car park area. In the night when my brother-in-law came home first thing he saw was the immobilizer flashing and he shouted from the parking itself.
I thought he got hit somewhere and we all rushed to see out when he said
something wrong with the car. I didnt realize first but when I realized what he was refering to then told everyone not to worry as the light means the car security system is active

(His face looked that he was not convinced.)

Update @14:30 - first round of issues:
1. Window (Wiper) washer compartment - bone dry - not a single drop. Had to fill up on my own..thought it should have been filled up by the dealer in the first instance

2. Coolant filled way above the MAX mark..should not be much of an issue since I have been running the Ikon like that, but it goes against the advise as mentioned in the manual.

3. Bonnet not closing..seems like the bonnet lock (the black metal piece behind the white U shaped plastic one is jammed. Good opportunity to test out Ford responsiveness & prepare myself for the worst service and test out my own disaster recovery plan:

a) called up salesgirl - response was bring the vehicle, will have it checked..so the old story of sales people washing their hands-off post their job done hold true.

b) called up service center CSR - his advice was to call up Ford Breakdown service

c) called up Ford Breakdown..immediate pickup..3 rounds of calls..while I am trying to explain the bonnet cannot be closed, they are trying to explain the bonnet opening process. Finally they realised the actual issue. Promised to arrive within 45mins..waiting for them. Meanwhile, have ensured that it is indeed lock assembly problem (by poking/prodding different pieces near the lock with a screw driver) so that I do not end up looking like a a**.

Seems like the bonnet lock is poorly designed. If the front grille is bent due to some hit or you need to fit some aftermarket exotic grille, you are out of luck becos of the black plastic lever which comes out to enable opening the bonnet.

All these should not happen, but may be in a hurry (year end sale rush) they may have not done proper PDI (and you too did not?).

Hope breakdown people comes and attend the work soon (meantime check if you have got any other problem so that you can report same to those people)..

I have booked a White SXI on 5th december and he has given me a approx date around 30th december, mine is a special billing case and as per him this case will take some more time than usual,

i have almost 85% of the amount, rest 15% i have hold just for the satisfaction purpose otherwise not an issue to pay the rest as well

The dealer gave me the option of following companies for insurance:

1. Reliance
2. ICICI Lombard
3. Bharti Axa

Planned to go for Bharti AXA, nothing special, just the dealer told that customers are more happy with the services of bharti
