Manza ABS, 1.4-Safire, delivered

It was on the last day of October, after weeks of discussions at Team BHP, I decided to go for a Manza petrol ABS(not a heavy user). Color, as usual was the first hurdle. Parents preferred a light color and I was for Black. Finally my father won the battle and we went for Satin Gold (After all it was going to be a 'Family' car).
The dealer being my Engineering batch-mate, promised to get it as soon as possible. Thus began the long wait, innumerable calls on topics related to problems on production of ABS equipped cars to shortage of rare colors. The urge to own one soon was too strong.
After 20 days the salesman calls me up and says that the vehicle is in transit and will be at the showroom in 2 to 3 days. So I put the loan on the fast track, so that I would be ready with the money in a few days. The salesman calls me up on 23rd and says that the PDI was done and that I could take it home any day. We fix the date on Wednesday, the 25th.
I was not able to sleep the entire night and sleep, if I did, I saw only cars. So the next morning my Dad accompanied me to the showroom for a full checkup (drive etc.)then pay the full amount before it goes for registration (temp.).
The car was clean, shining and looked stunning. The odometer read 10 km. I took it for a drive and was more than satisfied. So I handed out the DD. The salesman was so excited that he asked me to go for one more drive to which I agreed. We went for a 5 to 6 km drive and returned to park the car. A mechanic asked us to start the car again (as he thought he heard a different sound) and the vehicle DID NOT START. The salesman promised to look into the issue and said he would keep it ready by 5 pm.
After 4 hours I got a call from my friendly salesman saying that there was some problem with the STARTER MOTOR and that he had informed the dealer (friend) who in turn had contacted Tata motors.
The moment I heard the news, I went to see what had happened and was surprised (HAPPY and SAD) to see 3 Manza's (Diesel) being handed over to the happy owners.
The salesman comes to me and shows the Starter motor and says that the people from Tata motors were personally coming here to solve the problem (new starter motor) and check the whole system. They promised to sort it out in 2 to 3 days. I was a little tensed as the amount was given and even before delivery the car had a problem.
The Sarter motor was replaced and the car was inspected again on the 30th (Monday). The salesman asked me to take HER the very next day but my parents were still paranoid (and rightly so) and wanted it to be delivered only on Friday after 12 pm(Auspicious day and time). I went through the sleepless night all over again.

The next morning reached the showroom at 11:30 ( this time with my MOTHER) and everything went smoothly. A pose for a snap ( Key handover) and out SHE rolled. A quick stop at the temple for puja and then came home to drop my mother. I drove the car for the next 3 hours (Approx.-84 km) all around the city and the highway. It was a great feeling as heads rolled wherever I went.
The ride was extremely smooth even on rough roads. The only problem I had was that the car felt a little weak when I tried to pull it up the hill on the 4th gear ( was also trying to maintain an rpm lower than 2000).
Freebies:
1) Mats.
2) Air freshener.
3) Idol (Laxmi).
4) Rs 3000 worth voucher (had negotiated with the dealer in the beginning).
5) Brought my own insurance and saved more than 2k.

Here are some unplanned pics of the beauty. Will post a lot more pics soon.
And thanks to all BHPians for the timely advise.

One of the best cars you can get around 6.6-6.5L with all the goddies inside. Initial glitches with the car will be there(as you had on the first day). But a very good VFM car. very good choses and waiting for the interior snaps and some more of snaps as there are very less Manza's on BHP. So hurry up dude.

Congratulations rite2shree. Its indeed a very practical choice. The color looks neat. But I think your toy calls for tyre upgradation (IMO). Tyre size doesn't gel well with the car's huge dimensions. Again that's just MY personal opinion.

Enjoy your Manza, day IN day OUT.
Cheers..!!

Congrats on the car. Nice color suits the car well. Enjoy the loads of space in the car.

By the way, what is the initial mileage that you are getting out of the car?

Do post a few more pics of both exteriors and interiors.

A glitch on the delivery day itself . Why am i not surprised ??????
Having said that brother, make sure that the motor replacement has been properly recorded with the dealer & make sure you have a copy of the same. You'll need it should the problem reappear. And i hope you have opted for extended warranty.Didnt see that in your report. IF NOT ,DO IT ASAP !!!!!!!!! Many at times what happens is that, in the joy of seeing a new car, we forget such things. So the reminder !!!!!!!!
Here's wishing you a HAPPY MOTORING !!!!!

Congrats rite2shree. I was getting worried after not seeing any updates from you after the initial starter glitch.
Like was saying in my earlier post, get some snaps with the picturesque beaches, greenery and old temples near your area as backdrop.

Enjoy Maadi

Thanks. The car odometer read 25 at the showroom and an average of 5 km/lt. But after initial 30 kms of drive in city the average went up to 9 (with A/C on 100%). While adjusting the time, I accidentally cleared the average mileage. So, will have to start again and will keep you all updated.

Congrats on the new addition to the family. A wise and practical decision which in my opinion will be tough to specify whether made from the heart or the mind. Here both can be satisfied. Since you are not going to be a very dense user, the petrol engine makes sense. Please post a report on the car after you have thoroughly tried and tested it.
