re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Hi all,

Guys, can somebody list down the differences between the EXI & ZXI versions of diesel Figo?

I am finalizing a model for myself, and it seems that the brochures & website are not a 100% correct. For instance, I have read that the EXI does come with a tachometer but the brochures do not list it.

Also, I couldn't find an EXI with the dealer here, so can anyone please post interior pics of an EXI. I want to see the dash & door panels & seat fabric. Any other differences on the interiors.

As far as I can understand, the ZXI has the following over the EXI:

1. Rear defogger
2. Tilt steering
3. Chrome inserts on front & back etc.
4. Body coloured door handles & mirrors
5. Stereo with speakers

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Mine is a Nov 2011 Exi

I can tell you what mine has and what it does not

1. Does not have Tachometer
2. Inside door handles do not have any chrome around them, its black (dash and AC vents do).
3. The area around the hand-brake does not have any cubby holes for storing stuff.(I've seen images with plastic component around the hand-brake, not sure if its Zxi of Titanium)
4. Front radiator grille and above rear Regn plate - in body colour
5. Side repeaters, door handles - black
6. No music system (though I convinced him the give the Top-end's System)
7. No light inside boot.
8. Has parcel tray
9. It has storage only behind the front passenger seat, not the driver seat ( which is ridiculous)
10. Has fabric inserts on door panel

Thats all I can think of. Hope its of some help

Please do note that Ford has also launched "EXi option" recently along with Exi. Not many people know about its features. I suggest that you again contact dealer/Ford helpline regarding same.

Your points and kart19's points have pretty much answered your query.

My friend bought a diesel Exi version in November end. Had everything what kart9 has said except it came with a music system but without the Bluetooth.
The seat fabric is blue in colour i think but definitely not red.The earlier Exi figos and his came with a tacho even though it was not mentioned in the brochure but i dont know about the newer ones.

I would check with another dealer to see what features Ford has added/deleted after the minor refresh if one can call it.

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Power Steering was making weird noise on Sunday. Checked the level & found it to be less than "MIN" Drove to Kairali Ford Trivandrum & found it closed. Called Ford Service and found they work Mon-Sat.

Went to an Oil shop & there were 2 options in .5L. Castrol PS Fluid(140/-) & HP PS fluid(100/-). Shop owner did not know the colour/specs. My auto engineer friend had advised that in any case colour should not be mixed.

Bought HP@ 95/- & it was RED, same as Figo OE. Poured around 100 ml. now the PS works fine & the hissing sound when turned lock-to-lock is not there !!!

Anybody around Kochi-Calicut-Trivandrum-Ottapalam can PM me for free top up of PS fluid as i have around 400 ml left with me.

Thanks a lot mate for the detailed response. I would have had surely put my money on the EXI if it had a tachometer & those small cubby holes around the handbrake for storage, since they come in really handy.

Is yours a petrol?

Thanks for bringing this to light mate, because out here in Delhi/NCR, only one dealer actually told me about this option. I thought that it could be a dealer specific model, something that a lot of Maruti dealers do by providing some extra features in a particular model.

Let me check more about this, however, do you have any more details about it like what all it has over the EXI?

Now this is surprising, "kart19 above mentioned that his Figo does not have a tacho even though his is also a Nov, 2011 model. How can two cars of the same period be different when they are of the same trim, & this is precisely why I am not able to make up my mind. Does your friend's car have those storage spaces around the hand-brake lever?

@ALL: Guys, putting aside the location from where I would buy the car, what is the best discounts/deals that any of you got while making the purchase? The only thing that differs from one location to another are the taxes, but the discounts or freebies can be similar. So, what is the kind of discounts that were provided & what freebies did you get (mats, gear lock, etc etc)?

I ask so that I can have a fair idea of what to expect.

Rambo, ask your friend to check his RC card to find out the month and year of Manufacture. Cos, older models came with basic music system without bluetooth, newer ones come with no music system.

Mine is a black and red. Have'nt seen blue anywhere as a default fabric option by ford.

Nopes, mine's a TDCi. Well, I had booked the Brio, cancelled it, dint want my budget to go way beyond the Brio. Regd. the tacho thing, you can make LCD panel display your tacho reading digitally by going into diagnostic mode. Saw in one of the TeamBHP threads.Have done 3100Kms so far, ownership report pending.

Regarding the discounts, I got the Bluetooth system with speakers, Mudflaps, Carpets and (fake) teflon coating for "free" and Sunfilm at half the cost.
So, I paid exactly what was on the invoice.

That could very well be due to the car purchased in November was actually manufactured pre June 2011 when models had different trims. For eg my dealer had on sale, a June 2011 manufactured 1.2 Figo ZXi which came with E-OVRMs and rear wiper. My Oct 2011 manufactured car didnt come with these features.

No, I don't know anything about EXi option.

That's because model refreshment happened in September'11. One must have bought pre-refreshment and the other post-refreshment. Instead of raising prices, Ford removed features from all models except LXi (nothing to remove from barebone LXi ).

I know that you are asking about EXi but in my LXi, I see the following-

Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)-143073.jpg

Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)-143074.jpg

Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)-143075.jpg

Are they the cubby holes/storage space you guys are talking about? Just wondering.

After negotiating with almost all Ford dealers in Delhi, I purchased my petrol LXi from Harpreet Ford, Motinagar in September'11. I got insurance 100% free along with floormates and mudflaps. Ex-showroom price was 3.7 lac. I purchased it for 3.92 lac.

If you are going to buy a diesel, the best you can get is free floormates and mudflaps IMO.

Important to note - In LXi, boot opens only via key (not via lever under driver's seat). This is embarrassing when mall security guards ask me to open the boot and I have to hand them my key. During my purchase, EXi had it. Do check if EXi still has it or it has been removed.

After finding out about model features, please do post a list here so that others can benefit.

Thanks for sharing the details mate. I also never knew of the existence of a blue coloured seat fabric in the Figo but "devilscry" has posted pictures of his car & is car has that blue coloured fabric.

Also, do put up your experience with the car, & how well it has met your expectations.

Thanks for clarifying that. The ZXI had everything the Titanium had, earlier. I would surely miss those electric OVRMs. Any idea if they can be fitted separately & if yes, what would be the cost associated with it?

No, I was referring to the plastic structure near the hand-brake lever. There is some space behind the hand-brake lever as well & below it. I am not sure if EXI has the same setup or not. I am on the way out again right now, to try & check with another dealer & hopefully, I would be able to see the EXI in flesh.

And yeah, I would definitely post the details of the features available in EXI & ZXI, provided I get to see them both in flesh.

Too bad I saw your questions today morning. Yesterday morning I was at Ford dealer for my cars servicing and he had EXi/ZXi/Tit variants on display. Could have enlightened you a bit .
Re the plastic cover you are speaking, AFAIK until November '11 they came in TIT model only. Not even ZXi. Someone had mentioned here that it would cost 5K or something to retrofit. Also re seat fabric, iirc GTO had mentioned in his review that quality of fabric is different for LXi/EXi and ZXi/Tit models. You may want to check that as well.

My friend is planning to book Titanium TDCi in Coimbatore and we had a call with the SM yesterday. He said, presently there are no discounts and only accessories (mudflap, mats etc worth of 2k) can be done free.

The discounts may differ based on the stocks available with the dealer. Try to negotiate to the maximum.

I think petrol has better discounts and there is a talk going around that additional excise duty may be levied for diesel vehicles in the new budget. I do not how far this is true.

My advice is either go for Exi or Titanium. I do not see any value in the present ZXi.

I got SMS from MPL Chennai couple of days back that they have opened new sales and service center in Pallikaranai (100 feet radial road). Hope this will help to reduce the long wait on the service request for south Chennai customers.

Yes. It was opened on 19th January near kamakshi hospital and have Mechanical , Electrical, Tinkering and Painting workshops in one roof. This will reduce the queue in their facility at OMR, Perungudi.

Blue fabic is available only on LXi. At dealer, I tried hard to compare quality of fabric in LXi vs Titanium. I couldn't find any difference except for color. May be my analysing skills suck, I don't know.

My initial impression (of petrol Figo) is there at http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...go-petrol.html.

Around purchase time, my satisfaction level with the car was 'ok, this is a cheap car, I accept'. With time, satisfaction level is increasing and is now hovering at 'happy to get more bargain than what I paid for' these days.

I'm writing 3000km update these days in assembly section which contains some significant changes from initial impression. By when do you/your friend has to buy Figo? I will try to complete the 3k km report by then.

The refreshed Titanium model is now one of most VFM cars in India if not the most. It has alloy wheels (with awesome design unlike most of stock alloys), airbags/ABS, fog lamps, rear washer & wiper (and many more features, I don't remember all) over ZXi. You might want to check about Titanium. I feel that if you want ZXi, you will end up buying Titanium.

During my purchase time, no dealer fitted electric OVRMs due to the extensive wiring it needs. So aftermarkets are the only solution. Don't try fitting them before warranty expires. I have seen plenty of after market electric OVRMs. There is no reason why Figo's can't be fitted with the same after warranty expires. No idea about cost.

In case you didn't know, you should know that Figo doesn't have rear power windows (across any model) and that the rear windows don't scroll down more than 60%. I don't find them a problem but you may hate it.

Hello Akshay, how was your first service experience?

What have you decided about damage to your car's rear? How much is estimation from the dealer (and from local garage if you approached one)? Are you going for just denting or also repainting? If repainting then only hatch door or also the bumper?
