i20 1.4 CRDi Sportz (O) - Initial Ownership Review

Dear Team
Very happy to write my initial ownership of i20 1.4 CRDi Sportz (O) - Named him "Lucky"

Decision Making:
Started with Swift Dzire in "Mind" (relatives and friends too) and the heart saying i20.
It took 6 months to decide on. Team-bhp influenced me to finalize the decision. (you can refer to my threads in the our portal).
Thanks to all contributors.

Delivery:
Booked on: 08-Jun-2010
Delivered on: 15-Jul-2010 (Car arrived at yard on 02-Jul-2010)
Showroom: Express Hyundai, Sholinganallur, Chennai
Showroom Experience: Overall good (Not so great)

-Ves First:
1. Not supportive in completing my team-bhp PDI/pre registration checklists
2. Freebies offered are not shown upfront, resulting in dissatisfaction. Becuase of which i am not able to use my on mirror blue tooth device (where reverse sensor is fitted).
3. Seat cover and floor matt is very bad. Planning to get that changed tomorrow.. I should not have banked on the freebies. Lesson learnt.
4. Mentioned wrong body color in the insurance paper. Still awaiting for RC, Extended warranty, invoice for the full amount.

Note: I do not see a separate warranty card for battery and tyres. Any inputs here.

+ves follow:
1. Sales rep was very interactive and responded to all my questions well (did a small gift during delivery)
2. Not satisfied with black sensor on the silver body, changed 2 days later.

The Core (Car): i20
Would like to keep it short
What i liked:
1. Pulls like a beast when i get close to 2,000 rpm. I feel as if i am driving a different car.
2. Very smooth ride
3. Must mention: Premium Interiors.
4. Gear Shift indicator - Most of the time, it points to down shift with my driving style.
5. Remote Boot lock, a boon
6. Rich Features
7. Boot space - Enough to hold 3 days trip items

Would have been better:
1. Cooling Glove Box - A joke
2. Long clutch
3. Creech-Creech noise on the back
4. Gear Shift - Not butter smooth

Love to have:
Auto closing side mirror
Disc brakes in the rear as well.

Fact:
1. 13.88KM/L with full A/C at 24 deg C (First full tank) only in City
2. Verified - the Driver side window rolls down, if I put my hand in between.
3. ODO reading: 750
4. Not able to use the 6th gear. As per gear shift indicator, we use it only above 90 Kmph
5. As per gear shift indicator gear/speed match
00 - 10 1st
10 - 30 2nd
30 - 50 3rd
50 - 70 4th
70 - 90 5th
>> 90 6th

Will leave the rest to pictures to talk (My Nikon D50, has some dust on the lens, excuse me)

In the last 3 weeks, Once towed and once dashed by “share Auto” causing few damages. I will post those stories soon.

FAQ:
A/C – I feel OK. Since it is not very hot out here.
Steering Noise - No

Comments/Questions, Welcome

(Issue in loading images, will do it ASAP)

Congrats Selva..
Enjoy and drive safe.

Pls change those seat covers. Most of the accessory options available in showrooms are bad and ridiculously priced.

Congrats on your purchase. If you add a good quality sunfilm, the AC may cool more effectively.

Thanks Wildon. A special thanks to you. Your thread is one of inspiratoin.
Planning to try all the options enabling items provided by you.

Regarding cooling glove box - It is not effective at all. Placed in few cool drinks but it do not cool even after an hr or so. Not expecting to be refgirator cool.

Thanks ampere.

Just came back from the showroom.

There is no words to talk about Indian Ignorance.

Manufactured date is mentioned as 02/2010, instead of 06/2010. And car model is Magna instead of Sportz(O) in the RC book. Reason being, Sportz(O) is not listed in RTO database

Dealership is going to change it in the RC book by Tuesday.

Thanks sagarpadaki,
To add on to the review.
I have already done couple of scratches under the front bumper.
Rubber is also missing, in the new models.
