Can you'll also check if you'll have this problem.i.e the metal exposed below the rear mudguard as shown in my images. The dealership told me that this is the case with all Thars so I just need to confirm the same.If yes then this is the first place that is going to rust and we need to resolve this asap.

Regards,

Vijay

Goto one of the 3M shops, i believe there are two in town. Search here to find the details, charges will be 3-5k depending on the type of vehicle.

^^^ Kinda inquisitive how this is happening to all Thars? I mean, is this another production defect or due to some design flaw, that causes parts to scrape against each other? Very disappointing, to say the least.

Spike/Vinod/DB Sir, What is the standard warranty on Thar? Is there an option to buy additional warranty? If yes, what is the period and how much does it cost?

I am not getting concrete information from the bangalore dealership.

Thar Owners, have any one of you enquired about or purchased the additional warranty?

From the look of the close-up pic it seems that this is the part where they clamp/hold the body while the underbody coating is done. And once the clamp is removed, they should ideally have touched up that portion too. But, that may be asking too much from Mahindra

In that case the omission would be symmetric, on both sides of the chassis if not at four points. Best to get it painted over. One can also try to get it done as a warranty job, as it is clearly a manufacturing defect (omission?)

re: Review: 1st-gen Mahindra Thar (2011 - 2019)

Hi,

We have located the reason for my vehicle stalling at low rpm.It was the fault of the LSPV spring. The spring is supposed to be installed at a tension length of 9.2 inches but it was 11 inches which resulted in the rear brakes locking up everytime I braked. At low rpms the vehicle used to stall due brakes locking up and later free up every when enough momentum was achieved. This also happened during cold temperatures.
I will post images of what went wrong over the weekend.....

Behram Sir...thankyou again for your timely intervention.

Regards,

Vijay

I'm just beginning to wonder if we did not have BD Sir on this forum

Sorry guys, its a genuine thought - am shocked at the hand holding required for a life style vehicle.

OK guys [my X teamie Vinod] time for a THAR V2 CRDe with:

1. Better Switchgear [I hate the current M800 ones]
2. Better LSPV springs
3. Better Suspension [enough debate has happened on the forum]
4. Better crawl ratio [optional switch on the dash]
5. Better Tyres [I mean offroad tyres]
6. Lastly, ofcourse a factory fitted AC and a decent Lockable cabin [some people call it a Hardtop]

And a ONROAD Price of 6L Maxxx.. we want to see more THARs on the road.

re: Review: 1st-gen Mahindra Thar (2011 - 2019)

I hope there was an option to do this to the whole thread :
The thread has almost acquired a pattern. A wish or criticism is made by someone, then someone jumps in to support or attack the argument and then someone come in with a totally vague description and ends it with a totally unrelated but a statement which can be described as blowing ones own trumpet, like, 'hey today I took out a xxx bhp powered xxx type modded car on my xxx jazzy colored MH-xxx numbered jeep on NHxx highway at xxx time!!'.
After this the whole process repeats again and sustains itself for time before withering away only the process to be kick started again by somebody.

(I am sorry if this post appeared to some in bad taste)

Yes customers want a more comfortable vehicle with better fit & finish, A.C, H.T, Lockable cabin, no niggling issues, etc. Specially at the given price, there can't be any other way.
AWD, I am from a city located in the Thar desert. We do not have BS4 compliance as a must in our city. To your wonder, the MDi is doing a very good sale here, though I have never been to the local dealer but telling you based on my observation on sighting the new Thar MDi on the roads. M&M is doing very good advertising for MDi here and almost every alternate day, you can see a advertisement in the local news paper.

I just meant to point out that it is not that all over India, the marketing effort of M&M was concentrated towards Thar CRDe.

PS :: I am among those who are waiting to see Thar MDi 4WD on the roads and offcourse to die to see her with hard top (AC can be though fitted through the dealer).
