Let me add one word:

These photos are NOT Photo-shopped.
The greens are for real, we were amazed when we saw the brightness of the greens & the vividness of the colours, this place was truly Paradise!

Day 3

That was the ITBP check post. Nobody is allowed to go beyond that barricade without permission. We tried our level best to convince the ITBP soldiers, they were not at all budging. We even tried giving them cream biscuits, good days etc..

No. You cannot go through this check post.

The ITBP soldiers tried to convince us that there are no roads ahead, it's getting built or rebuilt. You just cannot even walk, then how can you drive!

We were all very silent. What does this mean? Should we return to Chamba and go to Pathankot and then back to Jammu and Kishtwar?

Seeing our predicament the ITBP soldiers offered us some tea. It was 12:00PM. They even asked us to stay back for lunch. But we were perplexed.

How do we reach Kishtwar for the night??

The Check Post remained closed

How did we reach Kishtwar?

How did we go?

Did we go all the way back to Chamba and drove to Kishtwar via Jammu?

What exactly happened after this?

Dear HVK & Lalu, I can only imagine the awesomeness of the whole experience, the pics are unreal. Do you think this route is doable on a bike? Did you see any bikers on the way?

For quite sometime I too was thinking the same, having not seen any reports of spotting bikers en-route. IMO it should be very much doable on a high GC bike, bullets etc. What may go against is:
1. lack of spare in case stranded due to puncture or having to carry one if required
2. carrying water in reasonable size tanks
3. range of bike and carrying reasonable size fuel tank
4. no solo ride, at least one more companion on another bike

there may be other points too to consider.

There are so many comments on this post that I feel embarrassed adding to the chorus. This beats my collection of thrillers. I wish there was a way to read the whole story as a single file. Please consider making such a post available.

The route will be a biker's delight. Yes, I know of mobikers who have gone this way. You can do more places in a mobike than in a car or SUV, so don;t worry about that!

Punctures are a risk on any route. Worst case scenario, you may lose a couple of days getting punctures repaired (like in the Ladakh circuit).

Water is the least of your problems, there is so much of spring water everywhere.

Normal fuel tank range will do, since you have a petrol pump at least once in 250 kms.

Solo Solo Solo!
Company welcome, of course!
