Day 4, November 30th 2009

Ooty - Glennmorgan - Pykara - Gudalur - Mudumalai - Bandipur - Gundulpet - Nanjangud - Mysore - Bangalore (359 Kms)

After a lazy breakfast, we checked out of the resort and hit the roads by 09:30AM. We have decided to drive through the long Gudalur route back to Bangalore, visiting the various places en route.

On the way we stopped at Kamaraj Sagar Dam. It is closed, but you can enter through some bushes here.

We moved on. On the way I spotted this board which I liked .

We stopped at the Tree Park. Tree park invokes some memory from 2006, hence spend some time and did the customary photo shoot on the low tree.

Lalu, i think you should start a photography class. What is it that you do with the camera to get such beautiful pictures. I know it is wrong to envy but i do now. I am ready to be your student. Please continue doing the good work!

Majic, anybody who clicks Ooty will get such wonderful pictures. Ooty is really the queen of the Hills

As far as what I do - click the same scene with different settings and experiment and chose the best. I still have not learnt anything, I'm slowly understanding the details.

David D Busch's- A Guide to Digital SLR Photography really makes you understand the basics. Further I follow Digital Photo Projects for Dummies by Julie Adair King
Further I follow Lonely planets guide on Travel photography and Travel Writing.

I second that. What is it that you have done to the snaps! They are just too good ! Even I had been to Ooty, but definitely did not see it through this eye !

Also another thing I felt is that you guys left Bangalore by 3:45 and were in Ooty by 9 (and without stopping for breakfast).
That gives the full day to enjoy. I generally start at 6 AM and reach by 12 PM with elaborate breakfast break. And also I laze the rest of the day. That leaves only 2 days of sightseeing, (given that we do long weekends). And in these two days, I generally dont go far (read Conoor), thinking I will come once again !

But still the snaps ....... !!!

If you start early, you really get the day in hand. It also helps in avoiding breaks or the break will be at the destination itself.

Only downside is for sometime you have to drive in the night.

Day 4, November 30th 2009 continued

Shooting Point (Cinema Shooting Medu)

We reached Shooting Point by 10:15AM. Just looked around for 15 minutes.

Merging with the sky?

Some statistics

The entry to Shooting Point. Looks unimpressive huh?

The road to Gudalur, and the vehicles parked. On a peak season, finding a parking at this place will be a real pain

50 - 50 , the meadows and the sky

It's still a long way to the top

In 2006 we took a horse ride, thinking we'll go to the meadows below, but it was the customary 10 minutes stuff. So this time we decided to give it a miss.

By 10:30AM we left Shooting Point and headed towards Glenn Morgen

Hi Laluks,

Like the management lessons by your power puff girls, especially

Long way to go...together we succeed part.

I am sure they will grow up and continue to have time, space, affection and be of support for each other.

Day 4, November 30th 2009 continued

Glennmorgan

Glennmorgan is a 9KM detour on Ooty Gudalur route. At Glennmorgan there is an EB installation which is out of bounds for visitors. There is a nice viewpoint and a winch which goes down to the Moyar power station. With the required permissions you can visit them. Most details about this are discussed a few posts before.

Day 4, November 30th 2009 continued

Misty Glennmorgan

Glennmorgan was covered with thick fog and we waited for it to clear. It was a very nice feeling with the fog playing hide and seek with us. We almost spent an hour here, it was just us alone there and we enjoyed the nature, our togetherness once again.

We reached the Ooty Gudalur road back by 12:00PM.

Thanks Lalu. For introducing us the Horse Eye view

You know what? Just like the birds eye view, where we cannot see the eye of bird, here also... hehehe...

Nice pictures. And I wonder how do you keep all these information even after days of travel.

Shooting spot - I guess once it was "officially" made a shooting spot, seldom people take films here. Now there destination is all Europe and west.

I keep some notes as my backup, whenever my RAM overflows - which usually does quite fast

Laluks, hats off to your narration and photography . You have created a totally new benchmark in these areas.
The photos are breathtaking, so I can only imagine what it must have been to witness it in person.
I am sure there would be many others like me heading towards the Nilgiris asap .

Regards,
Rams
