Day 2, April 3rd 2010 continued

Nelliyampathy

After the rains me and wifey decided to climb the hill behind the resort for some views. From the hills you can see Parmbikulam forests and Dam. But since it was misty we could not see that far.

The place was heavenly, just you and the hills and the forest around you. What a bliss compared to Seethargundu with all that crowd and junk!

I have climbed up the hill every morning and evening till we left. Everytime you climb you see something different. It was here that I was chased by a Gaur. It was photos from here that the owner showed me - a Bear chasing video, the 14 hornbills on a tree, elephants to name a few. I wasn't that lucky.

After a satisfying and tiring climb we reached the resort back by 19:30PM to enjoy the FireFlies Show. Was tired to touch the camera, and sat in the Verandah of the cottage and enjoyed the fireflies. What an experience it was. The entire stress of the trekk immediately vanished and I dozed off into a nice sleep.

I was woken up for a nice dinner with Kerala delicacies as asked by us, Karimeen pollichathu, Beef olathiyathu etc.. to name a few. Lovely.

Hit the beds at 22:00PM, with an alarm kept at 05:30Am for the trek to the hills again on Day3.

Great Travelogue.

Are you referring to Jugnu when you say fireflies there. (Fireflies must be having many species I guess). I remember as a kid, when dark, we used to keep few (jugnu) on our shoulders and call them stars (as police ranks would have)

Waiting for the full travelogue. Probably this is the first travelogue after your Ladakh visit or did I miss anything ?
Hey man! wake up, wake up Dear FM, otherwise, it'll be too late and it'll be difficult to read all the travelogues when Laluks would have 'swifted/ civiked' whole of this beautiful and diverse country! and given his frequency of trips, the day will arrive sooner then one can expect!

Jokes apart, excellent depiction of nature and its beauty. Laluks. Hooked to it, and jostling about how to fit in Nelliyampathy into my proposed trip plan of beautiful south.

I too think so. We all have seen them in our childhood, but, as HVK sir said, they seem to have become endangered, may be left in forests only. All this because we are destroying their habitats and creating concrete jungles!

The choice of places where pets are allowed are drastically too low in India. Hence most of the time she has to stay back :(

We have a full time maid to take care. They really need your time and care, think about it. It is involving.
