Re: YetiBlog® - Greece!

I had decided not write anything till the very end. But the photos you have shared are truly amazing and breathtaking. Thanks and hope we get lots more. I need not say anything about the narration. It is as usual , the best. Waiting for more update.

That may happen but I believe it is not the rule. My failsafe way is to email the Car renting companies about the rental with Indian DL in English, and usually they take their time but give the "correct" answer. I did this in US first, then in Germany, and later for France.
Mind you, I have driven all over Austria and even into Italy on my Indian DL, but my car was rented in Germany, and I didn't know rules are different in Austria etc at that time.

BTW, IDL is an "official" translation of Indian DL in a large number of languages as per some UN convention. So, even if one gets an IDL, you must have your DL to qualify for a drive.

PS - Great travelogue and story as befitting Yeti standards :-). Enjoying it thoroughly.

I agree with you Sam, in US once I was carrying IDL and was pulled over, they insisted on license and gave the IDL back. IDL is useful only if you are going to a country where English is not understood.

Sam, what a travelogue, I am hooked to it!

Re: YetiBlog® - Greece!

Feel like saying "I've grown up reading Sam's blogs on Team-BHP"

Simply one word Sam, beautiful.

The entire town painted in white reminds me of an argument I had with the owner of an upcoming housing society, that you should standardize the shapes and colors of all houses and it will turn out to be damn good looking society, but the concept of beauty in a certain conformity is alien to most of us Indians.

Re: YetiBlog® - Greece!

The place really looks surreal, especially the evening shots! Do you have similar shots of the hotel taken from the sea, by any chance?

Re: YetiBlog® - Greece!

Shall we go down?

Down of course means to drive our little Peugeot into the lower settlements, areas of vineyards and different architecture. It is too cold to walk around and driving around seems to be the plan of the day.

Why not?

The little roads winds and takes us down to the vineyards at sea-level.

The rather odd looking windmills we find in the area.

And the houses are, well. Caves. Perfectly cut into the hillside, perfect little hobbit holes for pete's sake. Hobbits!!

Don't let the front of this house fool you. It's no house, it's a cave hole, cut straight into the mountain and a nice fascia has been built. Amazing!!
