Iam also shopping for tyre change for my swift. Today one shop in Thrissur, Kerala offered Yoko A Drive (185/70/R14) for Rs4K each including fitting, balancing and alignment. But I would like to know the price ofMicellen ZM2 also before taking the final call. But on one in Tcr seems to sell Michellen. :(

Just got my Swift\'s tyres changed yesterday at Madhus. Was lucky to meet Nikhil too and what an experience it was.

Recommend Madhus to anyone who\'s looking to change/upgrade their tyres. They have all the brands and one of the best set of equipments for the trade. If you\'re lucky enough to find Nikhil there, rest assured you\'re in good hands and would be bestowed upon with best advice.

Talking about my tyres, got the Michelin XM2, and could feel the difference right away. Really comfortable and steering feels lighter. Other qualities that I read about remain to be seen.

Check out Madhus Enterprise on Langford Road. The owner is a fellow BHPian @nikhilb2008.

By the way, 16"? mind sharing the tyre specifications you're looking for?

Of course, this would initially sound like I am over inflating it and the centre part would wear out sooner but no, the little bulge that appears on the side wall of the tyre is still present, the contact patch on the tyres that you notice against the extreme ends of it which do not touch the ground are in perfect limits too.

I realised that this could be due to softer side walls and hence the 32 and 33 pressure are flexing the tyre more leading to rubbery handling. Now with 36 in the front and 33 behind, its just perfect. Give it a shot guys, see if you like it or no

I'm running 185/65/15 MRF ZVTV on alloys and if I use 33 F and 31 rear as recommended but my rear tyre tread is not fully in contact with the ground. (when I drive in my basement over some water the front and rear tread marks are different the F wider than R). Perhaps this is because I always have only two persons in the car and the above pressures were designed to have the full load - 4/5 persons + luggage. Should I reduce to 29 psi at the rear?

No, that's fine, happens in my car too on the rear tyres. Nothing to worry, 29 I think would be under inflating it. Carry on with the regular 10 K wheel rotations and it should be cool. Also I think 29 will give you that 'Dab dab ke chalta hai gaadi' kind of feeling.

Not sure why are you finding it difficult to source alloys in bangalore .
There are loads of reputed accessory store here in bangalore and i am sure they even might be able to source the particular model that you might want.

Check out the "http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/bangalore/" for more on the recommended store here in bangalore.

Cheers
Hope it helps .

Is anybody using 195/55 R15 Yoko S-Drives on their Gen-3 Swift? I'm considering my tyre options for my car which I've booked and am expecting in 3-4 weeks.

TIA,
Ashrit

Since you are running the stock alloys, what tyre pressures are you maintaining?

32 psi. I believe it depends on the tyres you're running, the usual load and the condition of the roads.

Not able to decide between the ER60 (4300), G3 (4400) and the XM2 (4500).

Priority:
1. Reliability & Safety
2. Comfort

Some Advice? Would need to finish this decision today.

I think comfort is no concern if you go for XM2, been loving it since I got them, I am comparing them here to my stock JKs. However, there are enough testaments online about comfort of XM2.

Also, I am yet to see or hear any comment about unreliability of XM2. And talking about safety, they come from Michelin, they're pretty safe I'd say.

Car - 2007 Swift Vxi
Tires - Michelin PLC 195/60 R15
Age - Purchased in Jan '12, must've run around 25K Kms till now.
Issue - Aquaplaning when on the highway

I have been facing this issue for quite some time now. Hit a patch of standing water at around 90ish and there is a momentary loss of control and a little nervous moment when there is no grip. It is momentary and a little tug at the wheel gets the car behaving again.

Maybe I'm not using the correct pressure in these tires? I've observed this happening only on highways when I go out of Mumbai. I keep the pressure at ~36Psi front and ~34Psi rear when I take the car on the highway. In the city I drop it by 2 Psi each and don't have this issue while driving on the roads in the city. But then I stay in Mumbai and travel during peak hours, so never get a chance to go over 60-70 in city.

This could turn out to be a safety issue. Is it because the tires are overinflated? Is it because the tires are aging ? Is it a tire design flaw(highly unlikely though). It is my car? Or should I just slow down to 60-70 when i'm out on the expressway and it's raining :(

Help!please:

Reduce the pressure a notch, try 34/32 on the highway. Have you checked your alignment and balancing? Can you put up a pic of your tread depth (possibly all 4)? Also the date on your tyres please.

Hitting a patch of water at 90kmph is bound to cause this.

Just slow down! Only specialist racing wet tyres will be better!

Reducing the tyre pressure might help you a little bit but the basic issue is that you are driving too fast wehn you know there are standing patches of water!
