XM1+ has a stiff sidewall. It isnt as soft as some people make it out to be. Dont worry about it.

That is interesting. I thought they had soft sidewalls as the ride is better.
Tourenza's on my dad's swift seems way harder compared to my bro's Dezire's XM1 +

Was tempted to go to XM1 + as the ride is really good.
Grip IMO is not that great.

Got it from JC road. Just do some scouting in JC road, you will probably find a good deal. Why not go to Nikhil's shop?

The key word is :SEEMS.

The rubber used by Michelin is softer to touch. Also, the sidewalls of the XM1+ are definitely softer than the ER60. That doesnt mean it's prone to damage. I've seen more A Drives and Apollo Aceleres with damaged sidewalls than XM1+s.

Yes. In ideal conditions, yes. But even in city running, it does improve the mileage slightly.

It's mainly due to the silica used which makes the tyre lighter. and since it's lighter, it means less rolling resistance.

I have checked out the last moment of price for 185/70/14.

Jk Tyre-3250
Michelin XM1- 3850
Bridgestone- 3600.
Same question I have many time, tomorrow I am going for change the tyre.Please let me know which one can i go for? My thought is JK tyre, because of price is very less.why we need to spend another 1500 to 2000 rupees for XM1 & bridgestone?

Hi gurus,

I have almost made up my mind to go for a tyre upgrade for my Swift VXi (with 35K odd kms on the odo) after coming across a few horror stories on the stock JK Tornadoes that do the duty on the VXi. I occassionally hit triple digit speeds on my long drives and the tyres are showing signs of age with some squealing around the corners.

The main reason why I have shied away from a tyre upgrade so far is that I don't intend to keep the car beyond 2011. Now my question is if the price of a new set of rubber (Yoko A-series possibly) would be justified for my case, or am I better off with a new set of the stock fitment since the Tornados give me a decent mileage and serve my purpose pretty well? Or should I steel my nerves and continue with my old set of tyres till I sell of the car? How long are the stock tyres supposed to last in any case?

Would appreciate all your inputs.

So the Yoko A drive it is then. Won't be changing the stock rims, so I believe 185/70 R14 would be the right fit? And any idea on the life of the A drives? I'd be more than happy if they can see me through another 35K kms.

Yes perfect fit for the 14 incher. They do last beyond 35k mark, provided driving is normal without any stunts.

On a different note, when I look at my car from a distance, I still feel the 185/70 R14 as puny. Nikhil, what other possible upsizes can be made on the 14" ? I believe 15" would fill the wheel arches completely, 14" looks so small on the car.
