I wouldnt agree to the above statement Sanjay, the size you mentioned is perfectly fine wrt to ride. Unless you have microscopic sensors you will not be able to figure out the choppiness from stock tyre. On the other hand it gives you better braking feedback inside city, where the stock tyres just lock up at the slightest move.

Rattles are altogether a different story and nothing to do with the size of tyre you are running.

I have both stock and upsized tyred cars at home, and upsized one is holding better in rattle department :)

Try reducing the tyre pressure, as for 185/70 the tyre pressure would be approx 3psi less than the stock 165/80 tyres.

I keep 28 psi in all four. Most of the time, I drive on roads which are a mix of say, very bad to excellent condition. Before the tyre change, my car had hardly any rattle. But, after the change of tyres to XM1+, the ride is good on roads which are well laid but unbearable on bad roads. I asked the local Maruti service center to check the suspension for any problem. They see just no problem with the suspension. I do not know what to do, should I go back the stock tyres?

Can't decide between 195 or 205's, what would be the best option for 80% city and occassional spirited drives ?

205/55/15 - 4900/- Sdrive
195/60/15 - 4700/- ES100.

Feel iam being ripped, are these price in chennai ok ? include wheel nuts and all taxes.

205/55 looks awesome on the car, but be careful while selecting the alloys, as the offset plays a vita role. 205s with an inappropriate offset will definitely touch the body of the car during a full lock or heavy loads.

I got my tires at Rs.4200/- each (Bridgestone G3). Tires are much cheaper in Tamilnadu when compared to Bangalore. I think you would get a better deal.

Actually for him, if he goes to ER60s, he is going to have an even worse ride.

What you are saying is totally wrong. XM1+s are quite simply unbeatable on bad roads. Nothing even comes close.

Sanjay --- I have a feeling you have overinflated your tyres. What pressures are you running? Where do you get it checked?

In all my experience of dealing with dozens of people running 185/70 R14 XM1+, you are the FIRST person to complain of bad ride quality. Get your tyre pressure checked first.

Es100 is NOT the A drive!

However, 4700 for the 195/60 R15 ES100 is a ripoff. Could you check again? I'm sure the dealer might have been mistaken.

205/55 R15 S drive is closer to 4800, however, 100/- here and there is understandable.

And NEO wheels costing 20k for a set of 4 is a little hard to believe. Who is the dealer?
