Nisarg --- No it isnt. It's a normal Lenso series.

Thanks, the tyres are 205/55/15 and the spoiler costed about 4K with paint.

Hi Sumit, the tyre dim's are right and the ride quality definitely detoriates, but its managable with careful driving, atleast in Bangalore :)

Want to upgrade tyres for my brother's Swift VDI with stock rims. The size i can go with stock rims is 185 70R 14
I am thiking of Bridgestone Potenza GIII. Price is 3460 per tyre in mumbai
Car is mainly used in city and once a year on the highway (mumbai - ahmedabad)
Please advise on my selection

go for the Michelin XM1+. Much better than the GIII especially given your usage.

I don't have much experience with tyres. Basically I am looking for better overall grip. Tyre life is not an issue because running is around 12 - 14k a year
If the XM1 fits the bill I dont mind that. I am sure it will be a step up from the stock JK's
I took GIII as an option because it was the top line series having the size i wanted

Me too, changing the tyres on the vdi immediately after delivery. As Nikhil advised am also going in for the XM1+.
Just wanted to know the mileage tyres really force that little extra mileage ?
How are the grip levels on the XM's ? and how are they in comparison to yoko s drives ? asking this because the yoko comes at 300 rs cheaper than the xm.

I checked the Yokohma site and they don't have a size 185 70R 14
And i intend to use the stock rims

Yoko's do have 185/70 R14. Its the A-drive series. I got them swapped for the stock JK tornado. It fits on the stock rims.

Cost per tyre is 2900/- . Buy back for JK was 1400/-.

I also read many posts where the Michelin XM1 was preferred over the Potenza GIII.
Now is it because the Potenza being a performance tyre has a lesser life?
Also do performance tyres dont give a comfortable ride?

Cost is for a brand new tyre without exchange.

While I don't have experience with either BS/Michelin, from what I have gathered from the forum and others is BS Potanza gives you a harsher ride. Michelin is the best of the lot,amazing grip, dead silent on the road, but has a soft sidewall. Few people have had issues with it, but the number is significantly lower to call the product a defect. There is a thread on this, search the Tyre and Alloy wheel section. Yoko A-drives is the best compromise b/w BS and Michelin. That's what I have come to believe, I am completely happy with Yoko. Also contact Nikhilb2008 (hope I got the id right), he owns a tyre shop and will be able to give you better guidance.

But the sidewall is very important aspect to consider due to bad Mumbai roads. Ride comfort is important but not at a the cost of a weak sidewall
