Yes i have also the same question, can i upgrade the tyre to Yokohama A drive, Michelin XM1+ profile 195. Will it fit on stock rim??? What would be the best upgrade??

Hi,
Ok please guide me its quite urgent, I got a quote from dealer for 195/60/R14 of Rs. 3700/- per tyre of maxxis. I think it has got good grip and the dealer say it will fit my requirement. So the question is that the size ratio is good for 14 inch rims, i think 60 profile will decrease the ground clearance??? And does maxxis last longer and will not effect my FE???

Please reply as soon as possible.

Thankyou

Finally my Swift got new shoes last saturday after 36.5K kms! After many discussions with Nikhil on PMs and phone, finally decided on Michelin XM1+ 185/70 R14. Chose this size as the tyres were to be mounted on the stock rims. Initially I had made my mind for A drives, but then decided to change 4 tyres and zeroed on XM1+.

But since then it's raining non stop and traffic speed is dead slow, so haven't realized much difference. But one major difference that was immidiately evident is the road noise is gone, and my VDi now feels much quiter! Still to analyze the tyres in the coming days.

How much did you pay for Michelin XM1+? Why Michelin when you can find equally good tyres (Read BS Turanza) for 15 - 20% less.

Michelin costs 3650 per tyre, but got team-bhp spl discount from Nikhil! :-)
Nothing against BS, but I personally don't like the BS brand. I had shortlisted Yoko A drives and XM1+, and had to chose amongst them. My main preference was comfort, and had heard great reviews about XM1+, so went for it. And after 3-4 days of driving, XM1+ hasn't disappointed me.

Pics of my Swift on new shoes! clap:
Enjoy!

195/60 R15 are the best, they look good/good grip etc.. but I would still recommend sticking to 14inch rims, I have 15" on my Swift and I love them, but my mind says to stick to company specified rim sizes, 185/70 would be the best- if I'm not wrong the ZXI models come with this specification. In case something goes wrong- say your suspension does not feel good on 15" MASS will surely blame your 15" and may avoid repairing the car under warranty.

what should be the PSI level in 195/60/15? 32 or 30?

my friends swift is outfitted with 16inch rims from lenso with 205/45/r16 tyres. the brand though is a korean company as i cannot remember the name. Though the steering will feel very heavy it inspires a lot more confidence while taking corners. Ride suffers a bit, but anyways its not so great on the swift in the first place!

This would be a bad upgrade for Swift. Swift already has a fairly bad ride with a 45 profile tyre the ride will be worse. Also the wear and tear would eat away tyre and need to be changed once every 20 K kms. Also both wheel and tyre are very expensive. Go for such an upgrade if you are going on a competitive racing in a race track.

205/45 R16 is a wrong size. He should have gone for 205/50 R16.

here is a pic of the car i was talking about. its true that the tyres will last 20k or less!! As for the profile of the tyres the gurus might be right about the profile of the tyres! Definetly the ride suffers with a jarring feel to the steering when you crash through potholes

are you saying it was a wrong size because the profile is too low?

No. Because the rolling circumference is not correct. The difference is almost 4%.

Oh. I was under the impression that less than 5% was acceptable.:D
