Dear BHPians

Although I have been a Team BHP member for many years I really havent used the fourm, so i am fairly new at this. I need the help of all car guru's.

I am getting my new Swift Vdi in 2 days. Like everyone I want to upgrade the wheels and tyres immediately. Planning to get the Neo Sunrise BM alloys 14". As for the tyres i am still confused weather to go in for 195/65 R14(as far as i know only yoko A drive is available) or 185/70 R14(Michilin energy). In one of the fourms on this i read irgav say that if we go for alloy rims, 185/70 R14 is not ideal and better go in for 195/65 R14 because of alloy width. I dont know the alloy width of "Neo Sunrise BM" alloys, in the web site it says 14x5.5. Is 5.5 width or deapth? Which tyre is best suited for the swift Vdi? 185/70-14 or 195/65-14?

Will putting a 15" alloys and tyres on the cause any suspension or any other kind of problems?

Fianlly what is the original offset for swift? The new alloys i bought has an offset of 29. is this ok?

Awaiting some advice on this from the car gurus.. Thanks in adv..

If you are getting 14x5.5j alloys, then 185/70 R14 will fit comfortable. If you are getting 14x6j, then better you go for 195/65 R14.

Putting 15" alloys and tyres will not cause any problems.

Is it possible to put 195/65-R14 on 14x5.5j alloys? will it cause any problems to the tyres? can u please help me out with it.

Thanks to all the senior BHp'ians, Nikhil and Jaggu for their advice and guidance. I got Swift Vdi on monday and within an hour got the alloys and tyres fitted/Upgraded. Alloys:Neo Sunrise BM 14x5.5j, Tyres:Although u guys did advice 195/65 R14 will fit in 5.5j alloys after i got the yoko 195/65 tyre fitted i found it was protruding out of the wheel arches a lil bit, probably because the alloys i had fitted has a offset of 29. So i finally after having a word with Nikhil went in for 185/70 R14 michilin energy xml+. The car is looking great and handles well.
Will upload the pics in a couple of days.

Hi guys, I have a 2007 Swift VDi which has done around 31K kms. All these days it was on stock tires. Now the time has come for a change. Please advise the perfect fit based on the following:
1) I want to make the handling and road grip better.
2) I do not want to lose out too much on FE or ride quality.
3) There shouldn't be a necessity to recalibrate the speedo/odo.

Also, i would like to change 2 tires at a time. Like front two tires this month and back two tires next month. Is this okay. Thanks in advance.

Please suggest the best brand too. :)

The 195/60/R15 is the best bet for all the 3 points that you put forth. Though I cant comment on ride quality, which I feel is highly subjective :D

Options in 195/60/R15 include Yokohama A-Drives and Michelin Primacy LC. Also some Bridgestone and Good Year models too.

EDIT: But since you have steel rims, you might want to fit in 185/70/R14

Have gone through some of the threads & its mentioned that Michelin Primacy LC are more comfort oriented tires along with performance. Will the ride quality be better than Yoko A drives?

for how much did u get the new michelin energy xm1+ tyres...did the car dealer did this or u went a tyre dealer. hope u changed all the 5 sets (recommended)..

Well, if you dont want to go to 15", then stick to steel rims and 185/70 R14 Michelin XM1+. It will suit all your requirements. It will cost around 3650/- per tyre.

I wouldnt even consider the BS and GY models! 195/60 R15 is good, but the ride quality will be better on 185/70 R14. If he has to go for 15", then he will have to spend at least another 20k or so on alloys.
He went to a tyre dealer. Cost him 3650/- per tyre. He sold his old tyres and rims for around 1100/- or so, but not to the dealer, but someone else.
Ride quality will be very good on the Primacy LC. I think it will be better than A drives also.

Thanks Nikhil, now that i have zeroed in for Michelin Primacy, I am looking for Alloys for red swift & i think redish copper color might suit it well. I had been to one of the Alloys shop but to be true got confused rather, as i felt chrome plated were also looking nice, black color with red color ring & machined center also looked nice. Overall i am a confused chap right now. Though in the show off thread for alloys i did find some of the ones i thought would go well.

Hi guys, check out the new alloys that I put on my 3 yr old swift :D

I know these r not the best alloys and tyres but then I had a limited budget and had to change in an emergency as 2 of my original (165 section) tyres were damaged and rains had started.
I think I'm quite happy with these :)

BTW, these r Goodyear GT3s 195/60/15 on Plati alloys.

Gurus, I plan to get delivery of a Swift Dzire ZDI by end September. I am contemplating upgrading the tyres. The stock size is 185 70 R14 and I plan for 195 65 R14 or 195 70 R14. I personally prefer the latter as it probably gives a slightly better ride. The brand I am looking at is BS Turanza ER60. Can you please give your opinion?

Also if I decide to swap the OE Dzire alloys, what price can I expect?
