You should have posted this in the alloy wheel show of thread.

thanx karan. a set of 4 costed me 17k. i actually did quite a bit of running about before I got my hands on these. A 7J wide lip was precisely what I was looking for and this one just seemed to fit the bill.

will have this posted on the alloy wheel show thread as suggested.

My cousin was using Bridgestone Potenza G3 205/55 R-15 in his LDi and wants to replace them with a new set of the same.

I hear the Bridgestone is not available in Bangalore currently. Does anybody know where we can source these tyres?

Can anybody suggest the best tyres in this size 205/55 R 15? His driving is mostly limited to the city and on trips outside on weekends.

I hear the Michelin is also good but very expensive, a difference of almost 1.5k per tyre.

How is this possible that bridgestones are not available in banglore that's next to impossible, tell him to go with either of the three michelin/bridgesones/yokohama he can't go wrong with them.

the price difference would not be much between the three brands but some specific pattern can be expensive.

What I meant here was that the particular tyre from Bridgestone i.e the Potenza G3 was not available here in Bangalore. We had enquired with quite a few dealers.

The Yokohama S-Drives are a better bet if you find Michelin expensive :)

GIII never was available in that size by BS India officially. 205/50 R15 is available though.

i second fountainheader for the suggestion, i myself using yokohama es100 (not available any more) the handling @ ride quality is really good except they are little noisy, you can buy s.drives or a.drive both are good good tires.

Guys unless you have a turbo charged petrol swift, i wouldnt recommend size above 195 since i feel that it will bog the car down with such FAT tires. Just my 2 cents.

For normal driving 185's are perfectly fine and for spirited driving 195 is good enough.

Guys,
I have 205/55/15 on my swift. I feel the steering has become a bit hard with this set. What i feel is this is because of the additional rubber on the road. Is it because of this reason or something else?

Apart from this the ride is very comfortable. Road grip is superb. And i can cut thru corners more easily than before.

Yes abhishek, the steering will get a bit heavy. I too am running the same profile tyres on my swift VDI. Just getting inquisitive here, what brand of tyres and which wheels are you using?

@anshurao,
I am using 15" AVA alloys with Yoko S drive.
Which combination are you using?

I would like to upgrade the profile of tyres(Not happy with braking and performance in rain). Is 205/55/15 right up size?Is there any effects on car performance or economy(fuel) with this upsize?
I'll be sticking to rims, plz suggest set of rims too!

Suggestion plz!Just read jaggu's post,195 is the perfect upsize and 185 for daily driving.

In jaggu's post he said 195 is perfect for spirited driving but what about those who upgrade to 16" and goes with 205.

i am running my swift on 195/60/15 for the past one year 12k km had no problem its just perfect for me.

Karan,
I find 205 a bit fat, that's why in my first post I asked for the right upsize(should have asked for idle Up size).Seems like 195 is the way to go?
Now another question is about rims.Stock rim won't take 195, which other options, I should look for?

Yes 195 is the way to go, yes you can't put 195 on stock rims they can take upto 185 (not sure though). upgrade to some good alloys or if you want to go with steel rims then buy carolla stock tims
