so you mean to say i should upgarede my stock rim to 14 inch alloys right.

No. He meant to say 195 profile tyres will be too wide for the stock steel rims. If you want to upsize, even 15" is a very popular size.

185/70/R14 and 195/60/R15 are the best upsizes on the Swift.

I agree, i use 185/70s on my stock rims, Pireli, amazing grip, it makes me wonder how other swift owners have survived this long. Stock tyres are crap.

well i got 195/60/15 yoko A-Drive on my Swif Vdi and ride and comfort is awsome!

thanks friends,
i will go ahead with 185/70/R14 or 195/60/R15(plati,yokohama combo). let me save some Vitamin M for that.

What pressure levels do 195/60/R15 owners maintain on the Swift ? I've filled in at 29 psi today. It was around 35 psi when I checked

Hi Everyone,
I am buying a swift Vdi and plan to upgrade tyre as soon as I get the delivery. The Stock tires that come with it are 165/80 R14. I think they are too skinny and lack grip if you are a spirited driver.

I am planning to upgrade it to 195/55 R16 or 195/60 R15. Both these tires have RR error of 0.21% and -0.75% respectively. So realistically outer diameter doesnt change.
Rim size for 'R16' setup is 5.5J X 16 to 7J X 16 and for 'R15' is 5.5J X 15 to 7J X 15.

What I am hoping to gain out of this upgrade is following:
1. Grip & Handling
2. Looks
3. Should not have a huge effect on mileage.

I would like to ask tyre gurus that if this upgrade will in any adverse effect on the car?
What tires should i opt?

Is there anyone who is running similar setup, please let me know what is your experiance with this setup. And please PM me what kind of cost I am looking at if I go for this upgrade?

Regards,
Manu Chawla

Well fountainheader i maintain 33psi in my 195/60/15 swift vdi with nitrogen air ,not the regular 0nes.

Hi manu , well my ride is White Swift vdi with yokos A-drive 195/60/15 with Lenso Samurai series sc-01 alloys ,the handling ,grip and comfort is far much better than those crap 165/80/14 tires, i havent checked the FE yet!! You can check my ride at the : show your alloys thread.

If you are looking for comfort stick to 14 in tyres. Either go for 185/70/R14 or 195/70/R14

Guys
I will be taking delivery of my swift vdi in two days. I would like to upgrade my stock tyres and rims. My priority is ride comfort.(not into perfomance thingy). Can you suggest a setup in 14in and 15 in keeping in mind ride comfort. Also the brand of tyre and alloys in these sizes? Please pour in your valuable suggestions...
Cheers
Dilip

Hi
I changed my steel rims to Plati alloys yesterday with stock tyres.I thought I will see how the new setup fares for sometime and if needed will change to 185 or 195
Cheers

@dilip- please change the stock tyres. it's not just performance, its also Safety. Panic braking will see the rear step out or make all the wheels lock and send you into a skid.
185/70/r14 tyres are not that expensive, especially if you get a buyback on your stock tyres.

Actually Its not about cost. Some of my friends who used 185/70R14 has now changed to stock as they complained about harsh ride in rough roads for elderly people sitting at the back. Also i never exceed 80kmph normally.
Cheers

That sounds like bullcrap to be honest. They might have overinflated the tyres. ANY tyre on the market today is better that those JK Tornados.

I think I know your friend. He was on Potenza G3s(same as me) wasnt he? Those tyres are not comfort oriented at all:)
Michelins in that size are nice.
and the sidewall height difference, which is a major determinant of ride comfort, between the 165 on stock rims and 185 on stock rims is nil isnt it?
so, when you get a wider contact patch for the same sidewll height, wouldnt you rather take that? maybe I'm wrong

Hi guys,

I am presently using OZ Racing Canova rims 15" X 6.5 shod with 195/60/R15 Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD2 tyres. Its time for a tyre change asthe Godyears are wearing out now. I was contemplating on changing the wheels to 16" X 7 Lenso SHU shod with Yokohama S-Drives/Michelin PP2s of size 205/50/R16. However, Saifee the tyre dealer has advised against it as he claims i may not be happy with the ride quality and may regret the same. Please let me know if the ride is gonna be affected that badly on the 16"

He has instead suggested to stick to the 195/60/R15s which are only available in Michelin XM1, Bridgestone GIIIs, Goodyear F1 GSD3 and not in the Yokohama S-Drive or Michelin PP2 series OR try out the 205/55/R15 which are available in the Yokohama S-Drive or Michelin PP2 series. I am in love with the tread patern of the S-Drives.

What do you guys suggest?

Tyre gurus any review on Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric. Can these be used on Swift and most importantly are they available in India.
