Hi Guys,
I am a new member and have been keenly following the fabulous articles on tyre & rims. I have booked my Swift Vdi white and is expecting delivery early next month.
I am interested in upgrading my tyres to 195/60/R15 with Yokohama Es100 tyres. Can the experts confirm as to whether I am on the right track track or not? The exchange price against the stock tyres is around 33K (4 rims & tyres). Is the price Ok?

I am no expert, tyre size is perfect but the ES100 is a pretty old model so you may want to look for something else. And before you pick your wheels make sure you have the correct offset, +38 is the correct offset for the swift, you could play around with plus or minus 3mm.

Thanks ANSHURAO
To be honest I am still in the learning phase and do not have much of an idea on "Offset". Would you mind educating me on this please?
How do I ensure that the offset is +38. please:

Hi anshurao,
Lessons learnt:Frustrati. Searched the net and now I am marginally aware of what offset is all about. Thanks for pushing me. I believe I should be finding it engraved on the rims.:)
Comming to the other points, in case ES100 is old, what make and model would you suggest? For rims, I have made an initial selection of a LEAGUE make mag which I found on the Scoda superb as a standard fitment in of the Cars & Bikes magazine. How about the net exchange price of 33K for a set of 4 against the factory fitted tyres and rims?please:

Cheers.

195/60 R15 - Better performance and handling than stock.
185/70 R14 - Comes with Swift ZXi. So I dont think there is any compromise on FE and Performance.

If not G3 or Yoko, go for Michelins.

And I am still waiting for gurus to answer my questions in the above post # 396 please:

SOUM - I think the price is a bit high. 4 15" rims should be about 16k while 4 ES100's in 195/60 should cost you about 12-13k after exchange. Ask the dealer to reduce the prices by about 3-5k.

Other tyre options you can look at are: Yokohama A.Drive, Michelin MXV8, BF Goodrich G-Force Sport etc.

Stick to 185/70 R14 if your primary requirement is good FE.

Thanks iraghava and adi!
so the 195/60 R15 does effect FE???

After reading reviews and talking to many swift owners with 195/60 R15, FE may drop by 0.5 km-1 km max but the handling will be excellent since this is the right upsize for 15" inch. Looks good as well!

If you want to continue with the existing 14" inch, go for 185/70 as Iraghava said. No issues with FE.

Guys, I know 205/55 R15 is the right upsize for Swift but what difference does it make if I go for 205/50 R15 or 205/50 R16?

205/50 R15 - Wrong upsize?
205/50 R16 - Too much for a swift?

I like the 50 profile! What are the disadvantages? or any advantages?

205/55 is best. 205/50 will give you incorrect OD, harsher ride (compared to 55) and increased chances (marginally) of sidewall failure in our conditions.

If you really want 50 profile, go in for 205/50 R16, it's a decent compromise.

I am all for performance and looks and wouldn't want to compromise on FE.
I read ppl claiming ES100 to be old and that A drive maybe a better option.
I am inclined to 195/60/15 a drive?

Thank you, Ishan! This is exactly what I wanted to know. Now I have kept myself two options:

205/55 R15
205/50 R16
