I recently purchased 4 OE alloys of Swift/Dzire from MASS. They are ...

14 inch diameter
5.5J (rim width in inches)
PCD = 100 mm
ET (offset) = 46 mm

The store keeper told me these are for Swift/Dzire old model. Another design with same specs was for the Ritz top end model.

IIRC Swift new model comes with 15" rim/alloys. Also, most of the aftermarket alloys are 6J standard size and may foul with something. It is best to raise the car on the fork-lift and put just the alloy wheel (without tyre) and check carefully.

The alloy wheels look overwhelmed by the tyres and it looks very small like a 13" wheel :) But this works well for bad roads i guess. I see a hole on the center cap of one wheel.

How much did it cost you? Which is the design you got, is it the one which was coming as OE in the previous generation ZXI?

I've noticed that OEM Alloy wheels in the Swift are more inset than the steel wheels, probably to clear the fender i guess? The track width is lower for the ZXI/ZDI (current gen as per the manual) than the V and L variants running on steelies.

Ok. I have put up this question before. Hope I will get some expert advice this time around. Please let me know which brand should I go for - 205/55/R15. Currently running on S Drives (205/50/R15). Would like to know if there are anything better.

Priorities
1) Comfort (I know 55 wont be comfortable but want to choose the best of the lot)
2) Less road noise

Would be great if anyone can give the approx rates as well.

It cost me 3900/- each (tax inclusive) and the other design was costlier by 450/- because it came with a center cap that is made in Japan. Mine too came with a plastic center cap that has the Suzuki logo but I removed it.

Would warranty be void if one upgrades to 195/60/R15 from 185/65/R15 in Swift ZDi?

In terms of comfort and road grip, would 195/60 section have a huge difference over 185/65?

Yes, I guess the warranty( suspension only) would be void in case you switch to 195/60. I was told not to when I had asked at the dealership, still went ahead with it.

Can't really comment on the comparison between the two as drove only 50kms on the 185/65 section. However, the comfort and grip on the 195/60 Yokos are great. I believe comfort and grip also has a lot to do with the tyre compound and pressure maintained.

A yoko/Michelin can be expected to have more grip than JK/mrf for the same tyre section

We have old swift vdi , and we upgraded tyres from 14 to 15 inches but when we inquired about our suspension problem they rectified without any hicupps . I have zdi as well and i have upgraded to 195 60 r15 and i dont think they will even notice that so to void ur warranty . Grip levels has increased , cant say about the comfort level between 60 and 65 tyres because i changed on the day one of delivery . Go ahead and do it , if you feel like swapping the tyres , i have bridgestone turanza ER60 and covered 20000 kms without any issue .

That is good news then :) I have upgraded to 195/60 and was almost certain suspension warranty will be void.

However, when I had visited for my 1st service, the advisor did comment that I had changed my tyres. They do notice!!

I have 195/60/R15 (GoodYear DuraPlus) on my current Swift and i do know that there are no issues like scrapping etc. But i am in process of getting a ZDi and wanted to know if upgrading to 195/60 over 185/65 would have any marked improvement in terms of comfort and grip, since i would be driving extensively between Chennai and Bangalore highways. I will get Michelin XM2 in 185/65 OR Michelin Primacy LC in 195/60.

He must have noticed just the tyres , not the specifications normally people dont upgrade tyres but we bhpians are an exception .

First of all dont get michelin primacy LC tyres , they are good tyres but sidewalls are thinner so are prone to sidewall failure on pothole roads . I got primacy lc on old swift vdi , it has developed a side puncture and cut so i would recommend you to go with XM2 . Regarding grip levels it will get increased , as you are upgrading to broader tyres .

I got the swift VDi and upgraded to XM2 185/70 R14 and prettyhappy with it. Overall good stability and feels nice to drive.
Unless your going in for new alloys then you can upgrade to 195.
You plan to trade in your oe alloys and tyres?
