re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

You can try Continental. Been using them for quite some time on my SWIFT and satisfied with their performance.

You can read more at:

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Guys .
A lot of people here are using 195*60*15 tyres on Swift diesel and wanted to get some feedback.
Of late im seeing my rpms level on my Rtiz VDI to be abit on the higher side ,so wanted to check if it is because of the 195*60*15 or something else .
Earlier on 2nd gear when i used to touch 40 Kmph , my rpm meter used to be @ 2k mark and in 3rd gear @ 2k rpm i used to be @ 60kmph and so on
But now after the 40k service ,its not the same
Now its something like this :-
2nd gear - 40 speed @ about 2.4 rpm
3rd gear - 60 Speed @ about 2.4 rpm
4th gear - 80 Speed @ about 2.4 rpm

I got the clutch checked but it seems to be fine, so wanted to check with people using 195*60*15 tyres about the rpm level when they touch these speeds on 2nd ,3rd and 4th.

Please let me know , i need to get it fixed .

Cheers

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

The difference in rolling radius

a) between SWIFT / RITZ mid model 165/80-14 vs 195/60-15 is 309.8mm vs 307.5 mm. The difference in total circumference is 1946.53 vs 1932.08 which is around 14mm or less than a percentage point.

AND

b) SWIFT / RITZ top model 185/70-14 vs 195/60-15 is 307.3mm and 307.5mm. The difference in total circumference in this case is 1930.82 and 1932.08, again less than 1%

These differences are too less for tacho readings to be higher by 400rpm.

Maybe you can get the tacho signal pickup sensor checked / cleaned up.
or it can also be as simple as the tacho needle spring becoming "softer and less springy" with age. Happened in my Esteem once.

Is the idling in your vehicle steady , specially after a high speed run or does it pulsate ?(even slightly). If it does it may point require a "dekhho" at the fuel supply calibration .

Idling seems to be fine, but have not checked it properly after a high speed run.

Cheers

Get the air filter cleaned up once as well as the airflow mass sensor. sometimes due to the grit, dust and smoke these gets clogged up and raises the rpm slightly.

Ya , we got that done, last time i went to the service center .
The airfilter is a new on which was replaced 2 weeks back during the 40k service , and i have already driven around 4k after the service is done .

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I was quoted 5750/- per tyre for Yokohama S Drives (205/55/R15) after discount. Planning to make my move this week. This is the best price here in Cochin. What you guys think?

No idea on the price. The Yoko S is hard to come by these days. So, do check the manufacturing date on each tyre before making the plunge.

How old can the tyre be? Saw the set yesterday but forgot to check the dates.

Dude, the dealer out here quoted 5750 per tyre. Can you check the manufacturing date of your tyre and let me know?

Do check the date on each tyre. I make it a point not to buy tyres which are sitting idle on the shelf for more than 6 months. But I have heard people say different things about the shelf life of a tyre.

The tyre shops try to push the old stock if one is not careful, especially the imports.

Living in Cochin, you may also want to evaluate the C.drive that has BETTER wet grip compared to the S.Drive and still better comfort and silence.

See tire positioning for Yoko's at http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attach...0-hyd-expo.jpg

Just ask him the final rate. Here it is 5750/-. Also ask him whether the shop is open on Sunday because that's the only day I can drive since I will be going to Blore on monday.
Dude, am not sure on this. Just ask him. This is not yet confirmed. Aslo, the manufacturing date is on the sidewall right, mentioned as DOT?
