After ~22k kms and four years, my X3 needed tyre replacement. As 19" stock RFTs were not readily available with the BMW dealer, I explored outside. With a leap of faith, I went with a local tyre dealer who managed to procure Q4 2023 manufactured grey imports of Bridgestone Alenzas at about 15% cheaper than BMW quoted rate.

Other than no pucca invoice, just by the look of it, one can't tell the tires are grey market. X3 was factory fitted with made in USA Alenzas, while these are imported from Mexico. Done about six months and 3k kms with these, they look good. Finger crossed. My thinking is since these are high-tech tyres coupled with low volumes, it is less probable to be a duplicate.

If you are in Pune and okay with such arrangements DM me and I can connect you with this tyre dealer.

Cheers,
-BJ

Can I install runflat tyres on regular wheels?

Hello all

I've seen people commonly discussing about switching from RFTs to standard tubeless tyres due to the fact that latter are quieter, lasts longer and is cheaper as compared to former but my question is what if I do the inverse?

I recently fitted my SUV with Michelin Primacy4ST tyres which are obviously tubeless but upon enquiry I also found out that in the same exact 245/50/R18 tyre size Michelin also sells the Primacy 3ST ZP, which are RFTs, so if I had opted for these what outcome would I expect, apart from maybe higher cost and stiffer ride is there any genuine drawback with these tyres that jeopardize the safety of my SUV? If not I would like to try them out even though I'm fully aware Primacy 3 is an older pattern, but hey why not!

Looking for answers from fellow BHPians especially from tyre gurus like Sir DBHPian @NikhilB2008
