Hi GTO, could you elaborate ? what will be the implications of using 205s ?

Specifically I am asking about 205/60 R15, which I assume are the best alternative to the 185/65 R15 that my Ciaz came with. Do you think it will significantly hit the power ? The 185s do not inspire confidence at all !

I was quite keen on the 205s ... but now you have me thinking !

Upgrade to 195's which is the best but 205's is going a bit overboard for that 1.4L engine.

If you aren't confident in 185's, get a better gripping 195 section to some the issue.

205's would add up to rolling resistance sapping of power that engine.

thanks, you told me what i know to be true but feel bad to accept ! To be honest, apart from the confidence, I was also dreaming blindly of the look that 205s would give the car. But, I will take your advice.

I had plans to flash the ECU with higher power parameters but nothing to justify 205s

As it is a petrol, flashing ecu wont give much power. The maximum gain will be about 10% increase in power.Remaping will be waste of money.195 s will be more than enough for petrol ciaz.Even 135HP swift sport comes with 195s.

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Question:
Pending delivery of ZDI+.
I am keen for a tire a tire upgrade from stock 195/55 R16 Apollo to 205/55 R16's. I know, Ciaz ZDI+ already has sufficient ground clearance but I love the look that the 205's will give this car. Mileage is already super. Any suggestions?

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I would be taking delivery of a ZXi AT. I am upgrading to 16" alloys, If any one is looking for the 15" alloys and or tires, please send me an offer by PM.

Mods: please delete if it is against the rules to post here. I could not post in the classified section as I am yet to take delivery and do not have the photographs.

The ideal tyre upsize will be 195/60 R15 (less than 2% difference):
It's a fairly common size. You'll have lots of tyre options.
Won't the wider tyre also make the ride quality worse? Also, you're making the sidewall smaller - bringing it from 120.2MM to 117MM. Wont that also have a negative impact?

If ride quality was the only objective, would that mean that Michelin Primacy ST3 is not standard 'eyes closed' solution to this car, because its not available in 185/65?

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hey guys, my ciaz's 185/R15 stock goodyears have little life left at 40,600 km. I am planning to upsize to 195/60-R15.

Looks like Continental MC5 is good. Dealer quotes 5.8k per tyre inclusivenof GST. Is the price right?

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

My cousin will be taking delivery of the Ciaz Delta Hybrid next week. We are planning to swap the stock MRFs that come as 185/65R15 with Michelin P3STs.

What is the better option between the two tire sizes called out below - both are available from Michelin:

1. 195/60R15 - Based on calculation this appears to reduce the Ground Clearance but I see that this is the recommended tire here.

2. 195/65/R15 - Based on calculation this appears to increase the Ground Clearance. Would this be better than the 195/60R15?

Please advice between the above two sizes...

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Change of tires is due in next 10/15K kms - so early, but still to be ready, would it be OK to upgrade ZDI's tires from 195/55 R16 to 215/55 R16 ?
Or would 205/55 R16 be OK ?
The only consideration being that I need an increase in ground clearance.

Based on the online sizing calculator 215/50R16 would be the ideal upgrade for the existing 195/55R16. Check the image:

All other sizes would result in increase or decrease of GC by a big number.

But it beats the purpose for upgrading! iam looking to increase ground clearance, and at the same time want to ensure that tire doesn't scrape around...

Here are the exact figures for the different sizes:
205/55R16 - GC: +12.7 mm
215/55R16 - GC: +22.8 mm
215/50R16 - GC: +2.54 mm

Both 12.7 mm and 22.8 mm increase on top of the Ciaz's 170mm seems to be very high and would effect the high speed dynamics. As per the Official Review also some concerns were called out regarding the already higher GC of Ciaz as below:

Quote:
As mentioned earlier, we have our reservations over the 170 mm of ground clearance, due to the soft suspension & long wheelbase. Final verdict to the Team-BHP ownership reports.
We were in a similar situation for my cousin's Ciaz Delta variant which comes factory fitted with 185/65R15 tires. The recommended tire on this forum seems to be 195/60R15. However, as per the Tire Size Calculator, this results in a 7 mm reduction in GC. Hence we decided to simply stick to the stock tires and exchange the factory fitted MRFs with Michelin XM2s of the same size.

The tire dealer in fact placed both tires one next to the other and said the difference would be negligible. Here is a view of the two tires placed one next to the other:

Maruti Ciaz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread-tyrecomparison.jpg
Left Hand Side: 185/65R15, Right Hand Side: 195/60R15

But we stuck to the theoretical calculation and decided not to up size further and stick with the stock size of 185/65R15.

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Not much activity on this thread it appears as the last post is also the one I made in Dec 2017. Anyways - here goes. My cousin is now planning to upgrade the wheels on his Ciaz Delta to 15 inch Alloys and has liked the design from a Alloy Wheel brand called Evo. He did not like any of the designs offered at Nexa showroom accessories department.

Does anyone have any opinions on this brand (Evo) of Alloy Wheels? Looking for some inputs on the Evo brand alloy wheels and if it is good to move ahead with this brand.
