PP2 is much better than S-Drives - I mean "much". All those will get will get murdered by Advan Neova for outright grip though.
Was driving my new Laura Elegance on Michelin PP2 225/45 R17 on HR rims. The grip was good, both wet and dry, looks were so - so, but the road noise was very very loud. Hit a stone once and tore a tyre and had to wait for stock and in the meanwhile managed to try out the Yoko AD07. Currently running AD07 225/45/17 in the front and PP2s in the rear, temporarily. I find the AD07 having equal grip as the PP2s, if not better. There is a mild loss of confidence on loose sand or gravel though. However, the AD07s are surprisingly quieter and softer(more comfortable) than the PP2s. The ADs absorb shocks better than the PP2s. There is a mild lack of feel, while taking a long curve at a speed of over 150kmph, the PP2s give a buzzy feel to the steering, while the ADs work like in a video game. The ADs have killer looks and seem much broader than the PP2s. Not sure of performance in the wet. Now im in a dilemma whether to go in for 2PP2s or whether to change all tyres to ADs, which means an extra investment.

Is it possible to compare tyre grip by having different tyres in the front and rear??

Somehow the Laura ESP kicks in early on loose gravel. Have myself seen the ESP light ficker even on nominal levels of loose gravel on tarmac, the car seems to loose control but it is actually gripping quite well. Seems to have more with the sporty tyres possibly due to increased grip levels not being supported by the intelligence sensors that indicate loss of grip.
well, with two different pairs of tyres, i could still make out considerable difference. like the road noise (both a humming noise and thuds on the road) seemed to be coming from behind, while taking a curve, the front wheels were more precise to the steering while the rear was pulling the car out(like in an oversteer), so things like that could be compared. But yea, the actual grips cannot be compared head on, only assumed.
Anyways, now i'm running all AD07s and am extremely satisfied with the performance. Only question is how long till wear out?
in oversteer or understeer rear tyres play more role....

A friend is looking for new tyres on the laura L&K, inclined towards comfort and low tyre noise.
How are michelin primacy LC ?
And should he stick to stock 205/55/16 or upsize to 225/50 keeping in mind the ride quality over outright performence ??

The 205/60R16 would give him better comfort over the 225/50.
For the Laura the 205/55/R16 is the standard size and it is quite comfortable unless one goes for a sporty pattern and hence a sporty side wall. - I use this size currently but with Sorty S-Drives from Yoko
The 205/60/R16 upsize available in Michellin MXV8 is even more comfy but give a indirect feal to the stearing. - Have used this size as well.
The 225/50/R16 upsize would be a definate compromise as far as comfort is concerned though better for grip and sporty drive as well as looks.
The 225/55/R16 upsize would technically not be recommended but would have good looks, better grip, decent comfort and should be tried out. It is unlikely to foul with the suspension as it is only a minor devation.

if your friend wants comfort then stick to 205/55/16, thats perfect for comfort.

Ask your friend to look for Michelin Primacy
HP, I am using them and they seem to be very good.

I just went down to the car to re-verify. This is what I saw:

Right size too!
These tyres are available in very few sizes and are expensive to boot, so not fast moving this explains why Nikhil slipped up.

My friend is running 205/60/15 PP2's on his corolla. The tyre roar was OK in the first 2-3k kms but off late its getting really loud !

I didnt slip up. It isnt there in the new pricelist and we were told that in that size only the Primacy LC is available.
Dont look at the website, they have outdated info.
Best thing is to check if the dealer has some old stock.
