My friend is running 205/60/15 PP2's on his corolla. The tyre roar was OK in the first 2-3k kms but off late its getting really loud !

Yes, HP is available in 205/55 16 not in 225/50 16 or 205/60 16.

The HP is very silent. It is a decent compromise between ride and handling. The sidewall is not as soft as LC and not as hard as PP or PP2. Cornering is great and grip in wet is outstanding. The dry patch the tyre leaves behind on a wet road is really dry and can be seen for quite a distance.

The Primacy LC is set to replace the MXV8 and some XM1s.

Upsizing to 205/60 might improve ride quality and perhaps give better FE on long runs but will impact initial pick-up. Go for it if there is a Pete's box fitted or a remap done.

Sorry Nikhil, no offence intended, I am not aware of the present position and Michelin's range seems to be in a major churn.

If one looks at both the links at the charts provided by Michelin, the Primacy LC seems no way any more premium than the MXV8 to start with but they have changed the positing to make it seem more premum at the cost of the rest of the range including MXV8 which they were discontinuing, but the chart cannot be truly believed as some of the other models have moved wrt to the MXV8.

Hi! an update on the Laura tyres.
My Yoko S-Drives just competed 30K on the Laura think they can go till 40K, the earlier Michelin MXV8 had lasted 43K. Was earlier worried about the S-Drives loosing bite soon, but it's fine till now - touch wood.

The ride is firm already so going for 225/50/R16 will not quite happen may choose 225/55/R16 or 215/55/R16.

The ride was softer with the earlier 205/60/R16

My Laura's Yoko's wore out in 20,000 kms only. Price I had to pay for not taking someone's advice "Do not buy made in Japan tyres for Indian roads".
Anyways looking at the Primacy LC or ContiPremiumContact 2 in 205/60-16. (I have been using 205/60-16 rather than the factory 205/55-16 since day 1 on this vehicle)

Price for the LC's here in Chandigarh is 8400/piece and for the Conti's is 7700/pc.
Which is more balanced tyre overall - comfort + low noise , life and decent handling in wet and dry conditions.
Options are rather limited in the 205/60-16 size and I have ruled out BS, Goodyear, Pirelli, Apollo.
There seem to be some issues with bulges on the michelin's due to soft sidewalls, but anyone has some experience with the CPC 2's?

I have been thinking about using 205/60/R16 on my Skoda Rally Sport, the stock size is the same as the one on the Laura - 205/55/R16 but some members have advised against it as they are of the opinion that it will cause scraping. Wanted to check with you how has your experience been with this size as you have used it for 20k kms. Also I have heard good things about the CPC2 so I would suggest you go with those, especially given that they are cheaper as well.

I will recommend the CPC2s. They are very good tyres and offer decent VFM as well. However, dont expect too much life from them. Average life with good maintainence is around 40,000 kms. Some people have been disappointed, that is why I'm mentioning it here.

Ackyash, your view of Made in Japan and not made for Indian roads may be on account of a bad batch of tyres or Grey market imports. If one uses a Made for Japan tyres on Indian roads, they shall surely fail and even burst. I'm using A539's Made in Japan (purchased from the Official channel) and I'm all praises for it. I bought this after having good amount of discussions with Nikhilb2008, kpzen, aZa etc. and your view appears to be on account of bad batch. Even Conti's and Michelin's are Made in China or Europe and if purchased from the official channel they perform well.
