Re: Aftermarket basic plain looking alloys

IMO, you don't have to wary of any of the two. Both the OEM alloys or aftermarket ones seldom fail. Yes, if you hit a pothole at a very high speed, you may break them off, but I have hit them many times at high speeds (happens at times on our highways) but all 4 Neo alloys are just fine.

11000 each

In the aftermarket, if you haggle a lot you can get all 4 alloys for that much money. No point wasting that much money for alloy! Try to find something that looks close to the linea OEM design in the out side market.

Re: Aftermarket basic plain looking alloys

Another good option is to search for OEM alloys from tyre shops. Some people discard their tyres and alloys on the day of purchase itself. They will be brand new at a fractional price.

Re: Aftermarket basic plain looking alloys

I believe you would do well to recheck the Linea's alloy pricing.

Fiat currently has an offer going on 15" alloys for an old design that used to come with Palio and later Punto. This is a set of 4 available for 9990/-. Will fit on the Linea too since the PCD is same as is the offset, the design is classic and elegant.

The entire set? for that much so 2.5k per alloy?
Or is that per alloy price?

Any specific dealer you spoke to? Would appreciate if you could pass on the name and city

Reading through some stuff. Is Hyper Silver the finish you see on most stock alloy wheels?

That is 19960 for a set of 4.

Re: Aftermarket basic plain looking alloys

Hi, it is 19960/- so that is ten grand more than what I said it was, guess I wasn't paying attention. See below my mistake pointed out by Mistakenguy.

Re: Aftermarket basic plain looking alloys

Ok, though I am guessing it would 15" rather than 16"
Also punto alloys are a bit sporty looking rather than straight linea ones.

But at least gives me a base to work off from. One possible item is better than none

Re: Tire upsizing on linea

I'd recommend the 15" with 195/60/R15 tyres, or if you want an even plusher ride, the 205/60R15 tyres.

I reckon you do a price check. With the anti-dumping duty having come into effect the chinese / taiwan made alloys have moved north of 17-18 K for a set of four 15"and Neo wheels has crossed the 22K mark (with bill)

re: Fiat Linea : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Having gone through the thread, got a great insight on the tyre scene.
My Linea Emotion Pack has done 35K with the stock Goodyears. Have taken it in the roughest of roads in the North East. I was planning to change the tyres in the near future, however, today I was shocked to see both the front tyres worn out from the inside and showing the steel.

Questions
Could it be due to a faulty allignment?
Do the tyres wear out faster as they near the fair life?
Whats the expected fair life? (of course it depends on the driving skills)
Should I go in for a 195/65? Does it affect the GC without any problems?
Please suggest and help BHPians.

Ans. : The uneven wear is due to faulty alignment, no doubt. But it can also be due to suspension problem.

Do the tyres wear out faster as they near the fair life?
Ans. : No, rather the wear depends on your driving style and also on the fact how you use the car (or rather abuse it). If you drive on bad roads, or drive fast and brake hard, you can reduce tyre life by almost half.

Whats the expected fair life? (of course it depends on the driving skills)
Ans. : Roughly 4-5 years and 40K KM. There is a "thread wear indicator" on all tyres and when they are exposed it is time to change your tyres.

Should I go in for a 195/65? Does it affect the GC without any problems?
Ans. : Ideally, when buying new tyres, stick to the car manufacturers recommended size. Usually this is the size provided on the top-most variant of the model of car that you have and in your case it is 205/55/R16. or 195/60/R15.

Please suggest and help BHPians.
The replies are given in bold, hope it helps.

There is nothing wrong with this and this is common across many brands.
In the 2014 Linea Emotion model, reviewed by NKrishnaP, whereas the regular tyres are GoodYear Eagle NCT 5 205/55/R16, the spare is 195/60/R15 Apollo.
