Re: Fiat Linea : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi Folks, trying to revive an old thread with a query. Thought this was the right place as I could see quite a few members have Pre-2012 Linea's with low ground clearance.

I have a 2015 face-lifted Linea MJD Emotion model which came shod with 205/55/R16 Good Year NCT 5.

The car has been run around 10K. I would like to switch to the old low GC due to a bumpier slow speed ride with horizontal movement.

Would like to know thoughts on

- Would the 205/55/R16 tyres I have fit well in the wheel well with out touching the sides and on full load?

- What would be the probable GC after the lowered suspension with 205/55/R16 tyres?

Thank you.

The tyres will fit well. Do not worry about that. Internationally the Linea comes with 205/55-16. So, you are safe.

Re: Fiat Linea : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

@Nikhilb2008, I had asked about Michelin P3ST 205 R16 while I was doing WA/WB there.

I am inclined towards it but I get lot of positive and negative reviews mainly about sidewalls - typical discussion for any foreign brands. I would have to tackle a combination of good and bad roads. Would like to know your thoughts.
The stock good years are so hard + noisy but serves it well on rough patches.
Should I look at mid rangers like Yokos for silence + bit of hardness?
Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Hello Saj,
Arun_joise is running P3ST on his car from last 37k km and he speaks good about them. Please check his ownership thread for the details. He has posted some analysis on FE with as well on the Michelin P3ST thread.

Cheers,
pdma.

Re: Fiat Linea : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Just wanted to check whether there are any recent updates on the best tyres for pre-212 Lineas. I'm looking still on the original Goodyear GT3 and looking to upsize to 196/65/R15. I looked for the ER300s since I have read many positive reviews about it but it seems to be unavailable now and its replacement is T001. Does anyone have personal experience with these tyres or know where one can source new ER300s?

What other brands would give a good all round performance and last long?

Re: Fiat Linea : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I upgraded last week to the Michelin Primacy 3ST (195/65/R15) (from stock Goodyear GT3195/60) through Premji Tyres in Thane. It was a smooth experience with them. The new tyres have given an increase in ground clearance for my 2009 Linea so I'm pretty happy about that, no more scraping on every speedbreaker! The tyres don't scrape the tyre well either.

Just putting this out here in case anyone else is considering upgrading too.

Re: Fiat Linea : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Planning to upsize the tyres on my linea tjet 2014 active. the stock is goodyear 195/60/15 and different sites show the correct upsize to be 205/50/16. is that correct?

But the emotion edition comes with 205/55/16, so a bit confused.

Yoko A Drive R1 is what i'm looking at

Re: Fiat Linea : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

The emotion & the TJet are equipped with 205/55R16. This is the right upgrade as the 50 profile will not give adequate flex and you will end up with feeling every stone, pot hole and what not.

If opting for Yokohama try the Earth1, it is a far better option than the A Drives.

Re: Fiat Linea : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Looks like 205/55/16 is not an option for Earth 1 tyres. A drive R1s, AVS DBs and Advans are what's available.

Michelin has primacy

Conti has a couple of options and so does bridgestone.

Re: Fiat Linea : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Sad to say,
opted for the MRF ZLO tires despite the issue of humming noise reported by BHPians, I am facing the same issue.

Between MRF & Conti I decided to go for the MRF owing to good relations with MRF (store owner) and expecting ease of service ( incase of stock Goodyear tires I needed to travel 40kms to get the tires checked for some issue)

Anyhow, continuing with the humming noise 40~60kms/ hr speed , I went to MRF T&F store (place of purchase) who test drove and acknowledged the humming noise.
The mechanic said " Sir this is not an issue with the tires rather its the axle / car related noise"
Without saying much I approached Kashyap Fiat in Noida and had the vehicle thoroughly checked.....and like I had expected .. the issue turns out to be of "THE TIRES"

I went back to MRF and reported the same. Thankfully this time the MRF T&F owner (known him for 15 odd years) said that he spoke to MRF and they have acknowledged the issue in these tires (quoted a similar instance in Corolla)

So coming Friday (28th Oct) the tech guy from MRF will be rotating the tires by 180 degree or inverting them inside out to test them again.
Basis that they will decide further .

I hope they give me my money back.... I'll jump to Conti and if need be travel whatever kilometer it takes incase of any issue.

Will keep you guys posted ...

Got my stock nct5 replaced by continental mc5 today in 205 55 r16. (2012 Linea emotion) Could immediately feel the reduction in tyre noise , have a long drive planned over the weekend so let's see how they perform, will report once I complete the 500 km round trip.

Eagerly waiting for your review as my car is also due for a change from the OEM NCTs of the same size
