The Kingsway in the blue n' white make me go wild. Remember the one my grandpa had many years ago.
I'll pick one up someday.

Alfa of the MD of Fiat India.

Fiat 2000 turbo spyder by Pinninfarina.

Bentley Turbo. Ive had a chakkar in this car last year, it is WICKED! The surge of power when the turbo kicked in gave me whiplash!

Lastly this Apte's special! Cant figure out what its made of, and didnt bother to look too closely.

Great pics Karl, loved the opel looks like its got a new coat and the Vauxhall velox is a stunner. Re the "9-Lakh Jeep"... im still laughing!!.
The VWs they are too bling. The orange and black beetle reminds me of the so called Mustang from the Bombay Rally but the beetles got a great paint job which can hardly be said re the Mustang. The red convertible beetle has got very hot roddish looks. Is that a Karmann badge on its fender, coz if it is then its got the wrong indicator lights on the fender. They should be like the orange and black has which are wrong for that car. Wrong lights... good apint job but cant be called a restoration as it is not original. Both the beetles. The red hard top is good. Next rally waiting to see yours in the line up.. and later on in the day a pic with a cup sitting on its belly!!
Keep em coming.

(....Pssst.... somebody get me a Jeep ---Cheap!!)

The orange and black beetle was prepared by Davis, a renowned painter in Poona. He also painted the chop top beetle, besides the Landmaster, Fiat Ballila, Badamikar cars and most of the Poonawalla cars. His work is outstanding, but the his personal cars are...well...loud! That badge you see is his monogram adorning his cars. I'll never understand why people do that.

The Chop top bug is a very curious looking backyard job, with wrong cuts and angles everywhere, though he did put up a board saying VW custom.

The red 66 Bug belongs to my school teacher and her husband. It was bought new in germany, used there for 3 years and then bruoght to Pune. It even sports a Golf ball gear knob like your GTi.

Pune Festival Vintage & Exotic Car Rally - 23rd Sept 07 - Part 1

hi all..
It was a crisp, bright sunday morning yesterday. And the yearly Pune Festival Vintage + Exotic car rally was just perfect match for the day !
It was fun to see all the cars together.. and ogle at them, especially the Lambos and Rolls. Man, poonawalas have a fixation with Rolls Royce it seems. Nice, huge and classy collection.
I dont have much knowledge about the classics but some cars worth the mention were The 1908 Wolsely, Poonawala's 1937 Rolls Royce Phantom III ( very well kept car i must say ) and Poonawala's 1949 Bentley Mark VI.
All others included a Karmann Ghia, MG rover, Citroen 2cv, Citroen Light 15 ( looks awesome ), Chrysler Windsor, 4 different VW Beetles amd lot more.
The beetles done up by Avanthi motor works were loud but different - the meaty looking choptop Beetle was the best amongst them.

There were lot of bikes participating in the rally - mostly Triumphs - my count stands at 5. Our own Mr.Karlossingh Fiatwalle had become Triumhwale for the occasion, participating with his Triumph. As for the ride part, Moral 'bhopu' Fibre joined him on pillion.
Lot of superbikes were also present, including a Busa, a brand new Suzuki GSR1000 and the usual Hondas.

All in all, it was great fun for us petrolheads and shutterbugs.

Now let the pics speak.

The number plates read his abbreviated name - AP = Adar Poonawala.
