This silver W115 is a very good car. A dealer from Bombay offered this car to me and he said it had a Pagoda engine. I was exited and hoped it were a 114 with a 6 cylinder. But it turned out to be a 4 cylinder. Yet, the 230 is a rare engine. Most W115s in the market are either diesels or 200 petrols.

On price: In my opinion this car is on the steeper side. I'd say something like 9 would be my number for this one. I'm restoring a W115 220 Petrol, and costs of restoration are high.

My opinion is upto rupees three lacs for this petrol w115.

There are several w115s available in the metros. The buyer may have to spend additionally upto another rupees one to two lacs on paying RTO taxes, re-registration, migration, tinkering , painting, repairs, spares and replacing missing parts gradually if needed. And it would be a good idea to first find and buy a suitable LHD/donor/parts car without documents.

If the seller is patient and fortunate, some one may pay him generously.

Wow- this is only the second instance I'm seeing of a BYG registered car.

The other example I know of is BYG 121; a 1947-48 Dodge- also somewhere in Delhi, I believe.

Incidentally the previous series w.r.t BYG (i.e BYF) and the immediate next series (i.e BYH) were allotted to Poona. The BYF series lasted upto 1954, and the BYH series succeeded it.

The BYH series got over by 1961/2- it was replaced by the MHP series; followed by MHJ, MHU, MHH, MHI, MTJ and so on....

I quite agree, but to be fair to Vinay- how often does a V12 W140 or R129 SL come up for sale in a nation like ours?

I think he should continue posting classified adverts of ''exceptional'' cars like these.

Sorry do not agree. This is the V&C section and modern day classics do not qualify here.

For example the Maruti Suzuki SS80 is under the Indian Car Scene and not here, primarily because these cars were manufactured from 1985.

May be a good idea to start a thread under the Indian Car Scene for Modern Day Classics available for purchase. All the post 1975 cars available for sale can go there.
