Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Here are some Ive come across. Fali Dhondhys super 20hp. Im told this car was rebuilt from scratch with many missing bits. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Another 20hp spotted in Calcutta. ![]() ![]() This 20/25 was in Hyderabad for many years, black in colour. My cousins would play in it as kids, living next door. Now in Bombay. ![]() Vijay Mallyas Silver Ghost (?) at a Pune rally, 2003. His other convertible Ghost is visible in the Rolls Rally link I posted earlier. I believe he also owns this Phantom 3. Can anyone confirm this? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() An important name to mention in a Rolls thread is Yohan Poonawala. Here are a few of his Rollers. 1937 Phatom III when freshly restored. She now sports whitewalls and has lost the disc wheel-covers. The queer steering wheel should be original, as Ive seen a couple more as well. The dash appears to be a locally redone job. The car was originally a hardtop, with the cabrio conversion done later in India. Im told there was a British gent in Calcutta (?) who was well known for cutting up these classics, and this was one of them. Just telling you what i was told, cant confirm it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This 20/25 has just completed a restoration. ![]() ![]() ![]() This Silver Cloud was a recent addition. Came from Delhi. Im told the car was a more recent import to India. ![]() ![]() Im sure there are more on their way awaiting restoration, and Im not counting the 2 Shadows, the Spur, and the 1st new Phantom in India. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() I wonder how many from that list are on this thread? Anyways, more that I saw at various rallies. This Kellner bodied Phantom 1 (?) belongs to a yesteryears actress, I think its Mumtaaz. (Whoever is Fardeen Khans Mother in law). It used to be owned by one Parsi gentleman named Bhatena, who was at a senior position at the RTO. Incidentally, his sons Aspi (of Car India and Bike India fame), Percy, Sorab and Sherry are all fully into cars and bikes professionally, being pro racers at some point or the other. Some stories Sorab has given me! ![]() ![]() This Mulliner bodied Wraith made a couple of appearences at Pune rallies. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I spotted this supremely original Wraith at a Bombay Rally. Im told it is in long term ownership with one Mr Jamshedji, and it is the very same car that was used in the Autocar road test back in the day when new. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by karlosdeville : 26th March 2008 at 20:12. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Delhi-ites might recognise this royal looking Phantom 3. EDIT - there is a Silver ghost armoured car at the Tank Museum in Ahmednagar, apparently in very sorry state. I hope to visit the place sometime soon, will get you some photos. A very significant car that! Last edited by karlosdeville : 26th March 2008 at 21:39. |

| ![]() Lovely Photos Karl again, I think the Silver Coud II came from Delhi also? If it is the one I remember I serviced it for more than 10 years. The Phantom III I think is well known here, I did restore the carburettor and set up the distributors and changed the prop shaft coupling but it got moved and then sold before I could finish the job! Keep the photos coming. I hope my lists aren't disturbing the flow of photos ![]() |

Keep 'em comin! Perhaps once it is complete we can club them together as a one stop reference. As I expected, it doesnt look like Rolls Royce ever sold a car to a "commoner" without a royal connection. The exception being a few Parsis though. But then again in Bombay they lived like kings anyways! | |
