Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Amidst all this talk of the Nizam's Rollers, an interesting anecdote. I was fortunate enough to visit a most impressive collection of classics during my last Hyderabad visit, and the owner had this most interesting story of this untouched virgin Dodge Kingsway of the Nizam (still in original paint!). The Nizam was now accustomed to using "lesser" cars, but old habits die hard. He was so used to seeing the Rolls Royce clock in his cars, he had one retrofitted in the dash of this one ![]() Unfortunately I never noticed it when I saw the cars, so didnt get a dedicated shot. Its still visible in the centre of the dash. |

PS: Several such Dodges were ordered at the same time for use by other members of the family

| ![]() This must be the most elegant and graceful Dodge ever, due to the presence of a clock from a Rolls-Royce? ![]() |

Wilkin of Bangalore source: conceptcarz.com ![]() ![]() ![]() Car was shown at the 2007 Pebble Beach Motoring Classic, so obviously is one that "escaped" our shores! Pictures are included where I have them (some are from our own T-BHP!) ![]() Year / Chassis #; Body/ First & Subsequent Owner(s): ========== 1931 / 52-GX; Barker Saloon / Earl of Kintore / Munjee Nathoobnoy, Bombay ========== 1932 / 72-JS; Thrupp & Maberly FHC / Prince Aly Khan ========== 1932 / 2-MS; Windovers Saloon / Prince of Nepal / Robert Mayerhof, California ![]() Raymond Gentile identifies this car as "Windovers" - contemporary websites as "Figoni-Falaschi". Truth or Dare ??? Couple of differences: Picture in the Gentile book has scuttle / cowl mounted wipers - above picture is roof header mounted Lucas vs "American" type headlamps Bullet vs stylized running lamps on wings The bodywork in the two sources look amazingly "unique" and similar! ========== 1932 / 114-MS; Hooper Saloon Limousine / Mrs. E.C. Wilkin, Bangalore / Monroe Mann, New York ![]() ========== 1933 / 116-MY; Park Ward Saloon / Prince Aly Khan / Ernest Stern, U.S.A. ========== 1933 / 41-MW; Park Ward Touring Saloon / Prince Aly Khan / Sam Girdler, U.S.A. ========== 1934 / 180-PY; Barker Saloon Limousine / Maharaja of Bahawalpur / TBD - Still there ??? ========== 1934 / 15-RY; Binder (Paris) Sportsman's Coupe / Maharaja of Jodhpur / John Zurlo, U.S.A. - "Bundi" Car from show "Bring 'Em Back Alive" ![]() Thanks to Team-BHP ========== 1934 / 101-SK; Barker Touring Saloon / N.R. Chandler, Bombay / W.J. Oldham, Channel Islands ========== 1935 / 62-UK; Gurney-Nutting Streamline Coupe / Maharaja of Jodhpur / H.H. Jetha, Bombay - now Amir Ali Jetha (?) ![]() =========== Which brings us to the all important question....is this Jodhpur car a Continental ??? I cannot find it listed in the Gentile book! Hint DKG or other experts ....can you get the Chassis # confirmed ? ![]() =========== Maybe only the Bahawalpur and 1 (or) 2 Jodhpur Continentals grace our shores anymore!!!!
