I know photos of this car have already been posted but they are such lovely photos I don't think anyone will object.

I think there are 100s of shades of British Racing Green and each one is correct!

Unless I am mistaken this will be the wrong thread for BRG 1 and my ancient scanner is now red hot, stay tuned.

Julian did you ever see the Bentley with the Calcutta gentleman who has the two very pretty 25/30"s ? I remember him telling me "wait till you see my Bentley" when I was complimenting him on his RR's. He invited me to visit but now its a couple of years and getting to that side of India seems still a bit away in time

Does someone have a picture of the Rampur (if I remember correctly or is it Jodhpur?) hardtop coupe with Mr. Sanghi. Its a pretty car. The most gorgeous Bentley (the non WO I mean) to me remains the Holkar coupe. What a car and what pity it went out of the country!

I have yet to see a picture emerge here of another pretty sedan with Mr. Bhogilal albeit painted in his horrendous colour choice, a pista green with yellow(?) wheels (my memory fades, I saw it in 81)

Hello,

To the best of my knowledge, the 8 litre had a slatted radiator (with temperature controlled fins, if I remember right). So, I would assume this is a 6 1/2.

Also, The radiator is more rounded, like the 3 litre. The 8 litre has a more 'squarish' radiator, like the 4 1/2. This too leads me to believe that the car in the pictures is a 6 1/2.

Kind regards
Aditya

DKG, I haven’t seen the car you mention, I’m sure you’ll hunt some details shortly. The Rampur car was a Gurney Nutting DHC but Jodhpur had a coupe. The pista green car was BMX 4462 Vanden Plas tourer.

Hi Aditya thank you,I also think it is a 6½ litre. It’s definitely got a front cross member at the end of the dumb irons (I must get some glasses). I hope it will be seen in the future. It appeared to be a running car in the Passage to India film in 1984.

A fuller list of Some of the Derby Bentleys that came to India including three maybes.

Above all the most revealing and important post in this thread is #94 which shows photos of cars unseen for decades. Thank you again Harit and Karl for these very important photos. I have wanted to see some of these cars for 25 years.

Hunt us a picture DKG. How's the Packard hunt going?

I would love to know where this car B72BN actually went, it seems to now be in the UK Reg CYY 56. Did it ever have anything to do with India?

I am now thinking I should conduct my amateurish car tracking away from the forum as I don't want to spread wrong information.
The real Bentley experts are probably horrified by my wrong interpretations.
Enthusiasm doesn't make up for lack of knowledge and access to all the sources of information.

On a recent television interview, Nitin Dossa said his Bentley came originally from Mysore. Just a little note to add.
