The famous 1948 Oldsmobile Futuramic Ninety-Eight convertible belonging to Raj Kapoor was featured in his second film "Barsaat"(1949) as Director. The brand new LHD import is seen in these images in scenes from the 1949 movie. Premnath, his brother in law is also featured with this car in some images. The Barsaat images are from just prior to the song "hawa mein udta jayen" featuring heroine Nimmi.

The car's pictures from when it was parked at the R.K.Studios in Chembur (courtesy the film on Raj Kapoor by Siddarth Kak) are also seen (1987), where it appears that the car had seen its best days earlier.

This Olds cost $2,624 (12,914 built) for 1948. The 257-cu.in. (4212cc) L-head straight-eight that powered all 1948 98 models was a continuation of the proven versions that came before it. Its output was 115 hp at 3600 rpm.

Ganwaar (1970)

A 1958 Buick convertible is seen, that is the same car we have seen in multiple films like Seeta Aur Geeta, 'Raja Jani', 'Banarasi Babu', 'Aahat', 'Raftaar', 'Parchhaiyan', and 'Rivaaj' - though in white.


A 1960s Ford Fairlane that we also saw in 'The Train'.


A very stylish 1957 Buick coupe - wonder what became of this one.

It seems to have the bracket for the continental style rear mounted spare tyre.

This 1954 Dodge Kingsway convertible has been seen in multiple films before.

A 1947 (?) Standard 14, that we also saw in Dhongee. In the chase scene we also see a tired Hillman Minx.





Also seen is a 1960s Toyota. The registration numbers are dummy.

From "An Evening in Paris"(1967) featuring Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore on scooters. A bevy of Italian beauties with Lambrettas GP and Li 150 Series II in a majority. Quite a few cars are spotted enroute in the street scenes.
