Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

From the movie "Dada" (1979)
Not sure if the Chrysler convertible is a Windsor though.

The Willys meets a sad end!

Look what I found. Spotted while watching the Coke Studio S4 promo and I knew immediately I had seen it somewhere on the forum. Thankfully, this time with the original plates on. Vishal-Shekhar composer duo is seen riding.

Nice find - after going through other scenes we see the regn is BMY 5107. Wonder if it survives - and if it is the pink car we see now with the Bhogilal collection (now GAO regd).

The Studebaker appears to be a choptop

EDIT - after asking around, a friend remembers this Chrysler as a dark blue New Yorker belonging to one Nicholson.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

A 1948 Studebaker Commander Regal DeLuxe Convertible seen with Shammi Kapoor at its wheel, in the song "kisi na kisi se kabhi na kabhi, kahi na kahi....." in search of "Sharmila Tagore" from the film Kashmir Ki Kali. The car's registration number is USP 537.

The song is sung by Mohammed Rafi and is set to tune by O.P.Nayyar with lyrics by S.H. Bihari. There are two video links of which the first one is better, as I could read the car number more clearly here.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Homage to Shri Inderjeet Singh Johar (I.S.Johar) on his 31st death anniversary today. As a homage we are posting a you tube video from his film Badhti Ka Naam Dadhi (1974), a film that was the home production of Kishore Kumar.
The Bombay traffic of 1974 is well seen in the first 3 plus minutes and rest of the 7 plus minutes of the 10.41 minutes of non-stop nonsense can make us giggle.

The main car featured is a Ford Model A dicky seat registered MHY 3676, which also attended a vintage car rally in Bombay in 1979. Wonder what became of it. Hope it survives.

I remember this episode from my childhood!
The Fiat's not a dukkar though, but a later (select or super-select model)
