Any idea what the Black stationwagon in one of the aerial view pics is? Seems to be a 3-door- Opel?
What ummm.....interests me a lot more is -

The Silvery/Grey Jaguar E-Type. In what looks like the 15th pic. On the road- Moving beside the Lambretta.

There's 2 in the Bombay - Poona belt; both Pune based. And both are (comparatively) recent imports.

The white one (MH 12 BA 6073- IIRC) came originally from California; in the early Nineties.
Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars-mh12ba-6073.-1.jpg

That's our very own Karl besides it! Due photo credits to him; for the below pic as well.

The second one; a red convertible (?) (MH 14 Y 123) is also an import, I believe. Didn't run too well, from what I've heard.
Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars-mh14y123.jpg

So- The silvery Jag is not either of these. I'm pretty sure more of these Jaguar's would've been imported in their heydays.

Bangalore had another E-Type. I'm sure more existed. But not too many. A fair few, if you will.

'Wonder if the silvery one survived.

Speedy had once posted this image of an E-Type rotting in Bombay, IIRC. Here's the pic. Is this the silver car, perchance? :

Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars-speedy-jag.jpg

Some one opined that this car landed up in Madras. Someone else said that this one became a 'parts car'. And of course- Someone also said that it got restored.

Whatever. Do we know anything concrete?

I wonder why the car appears twisted (reminds you of a Salsa Dancer, LOL), and why is the bonnet open? Engine missing; perchance?

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Some cars seen in a 70s movie: Kahani Ek Chor Ki. Is the padmini in 'Elkhart Yellow'?
Also note the President taxi MRK009.....which changes to an older, 1100D!

But what I found most interesting was the '59 Chevy station wagon- wondering if twas THIS car:

The movie car does seem to have an MRZ regn. and ending with 2 (not very legible unfortunately!) though the rear numberplate's of a different style.

The Mercedes W115 at the end also looks familiar!

Dear Shyam - hello after a very long time! The Padmini color is "Fawn Biege" (it was one of my favorite colors ). The location of the third-last picture is Don Bosco School near King's Circle, Mumbai, just 1km from my house.

Best regards,

Yes Indeed! Here is the Bangalore E-Type owned by the Late Ravi Kumar. His niece owns it now in Bangalore! Stunner

I wonder though which is the one used in the movie!

Oh what a pleasant surprise! I am pretty sure its the same Chevy Parkwood car. One of my favourite 59s in India!
The restoration work on it is simply mind boggling! The attention to detail is just WOW. Piece of art!

While I agree that the Parkwood is a piece of art, I doubt that these two cars are the same.
See the monogram, and the trim. I doubt that at that time someone would have added on a monogram as the Rickshawallahs do today
The car in the movie appears to be a bit run down, but its trim appears to be original. Both upholstry as can be seen on the open door, and the side trim where the monogram is seen. This leads me to think that both these cars have different levels of trim.

Rolling Art, over to you for your comments.

Cheers harit

Amazing observation I must say Harit sir! Arrived at the wrong conclusion just after seeing MRZ!
Just to confirm that, I am attaching a screenshot of the movie in 720p where the number clearly is seen as MRZ 4342 and NOT MRZ 6152 (My car's number is 4232 )

Clearly these two are different cars Please tell me this car still exists

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

What jeep is AB driving in Parvarish -- it's a LHD.

And, any ID on the red car in the next clip? The yellow is a Fiat 124 Sport Coupe.

HI Impala 59 & Harit,

The Wagon spotted in the movie seems to be a Brookwood. The Brookwood had the script at the rear, and was the base level wagon in the line up.

Pictures of the Parkwood when found :

Thanks RollingArt for the pictures.

I am particularly interested in this picture
Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars-img_1554.jpg

Amal had explained the car had been walled up and that the condition for the sale included rebuilding the wall. I had asked Amal for pictures of breaking the wall and bring the car out. Unfortunately he did not have the same to show me at that time. The above pictures reflects the above story of the car being walled up. Any pictures of getting the car out?

Cheers

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Today happens to be the sixth death anniversary of Late Mr Feroz Khan. The actor lived life king size with style and it is a treat to watch most of his films mainly for the cars that were featured. His car sense was terrific and rare for the film industry.

Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars-feroz-khan-car.jpg

However, this car above can't be identified.
