Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Some neat cars can be seen in the 1967 movie Aamne Saamne. Lovely street scenes include petrol pumps and the old airport in detail.

I was particularly glad to see a nice clear shot of Shashi Kapoor's Mercedes 190SL, which is now red in long term ownership in Bombay.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Superb photographs, the fuel station in the second picture with herald looks so much like an american fuel station of the 40's 50's had it not been for the registration number on the cars, it would be easily mistaken as some location in the United States.

Maybe that's a topic for new thread, photos of Fuel stations in India, Maybe Harit will do the honours.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

The Basu Chatterjee film Shaukeen (1982) featured the threesome ( Ashok Kumar, A.K. Hangal and Utpal Dutt) with Mithun Chakraborty and Rati Agnihotri.
Though we see a Ford Mustang in the promotional poster, this was nowhere seen in the movie.

The car featured was a dark grey Ambassador Mark 3. Today is the 23rd death anniversary of the character actor Utpal Dutt. This post also pays a tribute to him.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

This Lata M song "kis liye maine pyar kiya" from The Train (1970) is so melodious to listen in to. Nanda is lip syncing to the voice of the melody queen. The music director is R.D. Burman. Rajesh Khanna is momentarily seen making his ingress into a LHD Chevrolet (model ??) and driving away. A new Ambassador Mark II is also seen parked alongside.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Was told about this 1986 Telugu movie by a friend- features a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner, but sadly the car seems to have lost its retractable hardtop; even the boot/rear has been modified! Couldn't find the whole movie on youtube unfortunately, just these few of some comedy scenes from the movie; from what I've understood, the car apparently is a 'magical' one that runs on its own and 'punishes' evil-doers- kinda like Christine!
