Yes, 339, sorry! Had last viewed the pic. from my mobile! But I doubt that is MCO- the pics. all seem to be from Bangalore/KA, which had the MY and later ME series regns. So it would've had to be MEO. Maybe the E was not painted over properly.

The pics are of a KA guy and his car(s), but not essentially taken in KA.
The MC(E?)O car pic that you refer to was taken at Sholavaram, dated 9-2-'75.

Well all the cars in the pics have MY regn. and so would've been brought from KA for the rally. I doubt the possibility of MCO as it wouldn't be anywhere local to Sholavaram (TN) or even elsewhere down south. TN was formerly known as Madras state, in which case older vehicles had MS-- and MD-- (in districts) plates but never MC.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Guys did you notice the Sanjay Gandhi's Maruti in the background?
Check the car, not the number.
BTW I have myself seen a Sanjay Maruti on the streets of Bangalore. Another in a factory in Pune.
Have a relook.

Cheers harit

Sure looks similar, but is that what it is? Maybe an earlier version?

The windscreen looks a lot more droopy on the sides and the front more bulbous compared to these pics I could find:

I'm almost 100% sure it is the Scootacar/Fuldamobil and not the Maruti.

This looks like the 3 wheeled scootacar, the Maruti of the pre suzuki era was different. Behind the bike the fender and wheel seem to be a Willys station wagon .

A 1938 Moto Guzzi that claims a Patiala / India provenance. And only seems to have emigrated in 1990.

Coincidentally there is a discussion going on between Somender Singh (the tuner) and Vicky Chandok, both being from the same era are discussion on the same picture.

Here is what Vicky has to say. I quote

"Remember my Dad went to meet Sanjay Gandhi in Delhi to display the car at Sholavaram. The guy wanted the MMSC to pay a small fortune for the 'privilege' . His contention being that it would attract 1000's more spectators!! Yeah, right!!! It had 3rd class train compartment wooden seats with no cushions!! Ultimately the car did come down to be displayed and dumped finally"

I unquote.

Looks like a Ford Custom 300, ca 1958 (on the left).

Along with a few fellow Yanks; and some German, British and Italian cousins
