2016 Toyota Fortuner India launch on November 7

Toyota has announced that the 2016 Fortuner will be launched in India on November 7, 2016. The SUV has already reached various dealerships in the country.

The upcoming launch will mark the introduction of the second-generation Fortuner in India. It was unveiled last year in Thailand and Australia. The vehicle is expected to share its platform, engine options, and various features with its MPV sibling - the Innova Crysta.

It will be offered with a choice of two diesel engine options: a 2.4-litre and a 2.8-litre. Both these engines are from Toyota's latest GD series, and are similar to the ones found on the Innova. A 2.7-litre petrol engine might also be on offer owing to the uncertainty surrounding diesel vehicles with large engines in the country. A 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic will be the transmission options on offer.

The new Fortuner will try to regain the market share of its predecessor, which has currently been capped by the Ford Endeavour. Toyota dealers across the country are expected to start accepting bookings of the 2016 Fortuner soon.
