2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S launched at Rs. 1.5 crore

Mercedes-Benz has launched the Mercedes-AMG E63 S at Rs. 1.5 crore (ex-showroom, India). In the international market, the E63 sedan comes in two variants however in India, Mercedes is only offering the more powerful 'S' variant.

The new Mercedes-AMG E63 S measures 4,988 mm in overall length, 2,065 mm in width and 1,463 mm in height. The car's wheelbase is 2,939 mm and it comes with a 66-litre fuel tank.

Being an AMG, the E63 S looks more aggressive than the standard E Class (Note that we only get the LWB E-Class in the standard form). In the front, it has the AMG grille and bumper with large air intakes and a revised air dam. It also has a unique bonnet. Moving to the side, the E63 S has small vents with the V8 Biturbo badges on the front fenders. The car rides on 20-inch AMG wheels. In the rear, the E63 S gets a boot spoiler, quad-exhaust tips and a diffuser.

The interior of the E63 S is identical to the standard E Class except that the analogue instrument cluster has been replaced with a large screen that extends half way across the dashboard. Besides, it has a 3-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifts and it rides on AMG tuned sports suspension.

The Mercedes-AMG E63 S is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine that puts out 603 BHP @ 5,750 -6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 850 Nm @ 2,500-4,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system with variable torque distribution. It even comes with a 'drift mode' function, which turns it into a rear-wheel drive sedan. Apart from that, it has launch control and 3 driving modes - Sport, Sport Plus and Race. Moreover, the car is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

In terms of safety features, the E63 S comes with ABS with active brake assist, 7 airbags, radar-based driver assistance systems including collision warning, speed-dependent braking assistance and autonomous braking as well as Multibeam Intelligent Light System. The new Mercedes-AMG E63 S will rival the BMW M5 in the Indian market.
