2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift spied in India

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2017. A test mule of the refreshed S-Class has now been spotted on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway with what appears to be an emission testing apparatus on-board.

The facelift S-Class gets a set of new headlights with revised LED DRLs and new LED tail lights. It also gets redesigned bumpers at both ends in addition to new alloy wheels. Inside, the new S-Class gets two new 12.3-inch displays - one each for the infotainment system and the instrument cluster. The basic design of the dashboard hasn’t changed apart from the addition of a new multi-function steering wheel.

The new S-Class now comes with semi-autonomous driving functions. The system makes use of active distance control and the active steering assist to adjust the car’s speed with respect to the road ahead and also assists the driver with the steering of the vehicle.

In the international market, the new S-Class is offered with a range of 3.0-litre, inline 6-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Higher variants, including the AMG versions get a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine. The top-spec Maybach S 650 and the AMG S 65 is offered with a 6.0-litre V12 engine which produces 621 BHP and 1000 Nm of peak torque.

Mercedes-Benz is yet to confirm the S-Class facelift for India. However, the updated version is likely to be launched in 2018.
