8th-gen Porsche 911 Carrera S and 4S unveiled

Porsche has unveiled the eighth-generation 911 on the 55th anniversary of the two-door sports car. The German manufacturer has revealed the Carrera S and 4S Coupe models of the 911.

The overall shape of the 911 remains similar to the outgoing car. It gets a dual-tone bumper in the front with a large air dam and 4-slat air vents at the sides and comes equipped with circular LED headlights. The car rides on 21 inch and 20 inch alloy wheels at the front and rear respectively and gets flared wheel arches. The rear bumper houses a pair of slim reflectors and dual exhaust pipes. The tail lights consist of a single LED unit that stretches across the width of the car.

The interiors sport a 10.9-inch touchscreen system along with the digital instrument cluster, which consists of a central tachometer and frameless digital displays on either side.

The Carrera S and 4S are powered by a turbocharged flat 6-cylinder boxer engine that puts out 444 BHP - an increase of 30 BHP over the previous generation car. The rear-wheel drive Carrera S has a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds, while the all-wheel drive Carrera 4S is claimed to do the same in 3.6 seconds. The top speeds for the two models are claimed to be 308 km/h and 306 km/h respectively.

Coming to safety features, the 911 gets auto emergency braking, thermal camera for night vision, adaptive cruise control with automatic distance control and a wet mode for driving in slippery conditions as standard.

Deliveries of the new 911 are scheduled to begin from mid 2019.
