Checking out various vintage buses at the Sydney Bus Museum

The place is tucked away in a lane within a residential area, so it’s quite easy to miss even if one drives past.

BHPian narayan recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

I had the opportunity to visit Sydney recently. My wife was kind enough to look up for places I could visit and found the Sydney bus museum among them.

The place is tucked away in a lane within a residential area - so it’s quite easy to miss even if one drives past. Part of the ticket ( which at $20 is a steal for any petrolhead), is unlimited free rides on period buses that run between the museum and a particular bus stop within the city. I took the bus ride into the museum and that kind of set the stage for what to expect.

I am not at all a vintage bus person and hence this visit was more of a learning for me rather than enjoying what I already might be aware about. Hence, I will mostly let the pictures do the talking and try to post each model into a separate post. Overall, you will find information/pictures of the below categories:

  • Vintage public transport buses deployed in Sydney at various times in the past
  • Period Signage, emblems
  • Some scale models
  • A few informative sign boards about the evolution of the transport sector in Sydney
  • Period Training material boards and simulators
  • Period advertising signage within the bus I travelled
