First pic of a BH-series plate; this is how it looks

The 'BH Series' was introduced to facilitate the free movement of vehicles between states.

The state of Orissa has started issuing 'Bharat Series' number plates for cars. An image of a Tata Nexon shared on a Facebook group gives us a first look at the new BH series registration.

The number plate is similar to the High Security Registration Plate (HSRP). The font with the embossed characters and numbers are identical. The plate also has the 'IND' mark and hologram on the left-hand side.

The BH series plates were introduced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in August this year to facilitate the free movement of vehicles between states.

The BH series is primarily intended for defence personnel, central and state government employees and select companies who have offices in four or more States or Union Territories.

For such vehicles, road tax is levied for 2 years or in multiples of two. After completion of the 14th year, the road tax will be levied annually and it will be half of the amount which was charged earlier for that vehicle.
