Online link for high-security no. plates in Maharashtra unveiled

The government of Maharashtra has increased the charges for HSRPs.

Earlier this month, the state of Maharashtra made High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) compulsory for vehicles registered before 2019. The Transport Department has notified that the deadline for all vehicles to be fitted with HSRPs will be March 31, 2025.

The government has appointed three agencies to manage the installation of new HSRPs across the state. An online portal has also been set up, where owners can book their registration plates.

Meanwhile, the government has hiked the charges for HSRPs. The cost of installing HSRPs for motorcycles, scooters and tractors is Rs 531. HSRPs for 3-wheelers cost Rs 590 and Rs 879 for cars, buses and trucks. The cost includes GST and the price of the snap lock for the number plate.

HSRPs were introduced in 2019. These are tamper-proof and come with a unique identification number, hologram and registration number.
