Jeep Wrangler global sales cross 50 lakh unit milestone

In India, the Jeep Wrangler is available in Unlimited and Rubicon trims.

The Jeep Wrangler has achieved a new global sales milestone. The carmaker recently announced the sale of the 50,00,000th unit, a 2023 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe 20th Anniversary Edition, which was bought by a customer in Camden, New Jersey.

The Jeep Wrangler made its debut at the 1986 Chicago Auto Show, replacing the Jeep CJ. The first generation (YJ) went into production 37 years ago at the American Motors Corporation factory. Jeep sold 6,30,000 units of the YJ between 1987 and 1995.

The TJ was introduced in 1996, followed by the JK in 2006 and JL in 2017. The current generation comes with two engine options: a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder and a 4.2-litre 6-cylinder.

In India, the Jeep Wrangler is available in Unlimited and Rubicon trims. It is offered with the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
